behind the Raiders and the Jags. Neither need a qb. I think our odds are very good at sucking for the duck as of now. The way our schedule looks now, I Don't see more than 2-3 wins total which would keep us in the bottom 3.
Big question is who might try and jump in front of us?

    THOUGHTS?

There is a thread on this in the Draft Forum

    http://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/official-path-to-the-1-pick-thread.82157/

1968 did a competent (not great :D) job running down the scenarios on page 13. Also wampa with some added value too.

I could see St. Louis and Tampa Bay both trying to jump us to 2.

That could definitely drive the price of the number 2 pick up. I'm on board with grabbing a franchise QB, but I'm reluctant to give up multiple firsts for it. It might not take an RG3 type deal, but it could be somewhat costly.

Suck for the duck. I like it. Where did that come from?

And it should be costly because it's so important.

But I agree it's not going to cost an RG3 deal. Oak and Jax are going to want that 3rd pick. Once you get to 4 or 5 or 6, the Ghost of Gholston appears.

I think it started with some Titans fans, but not sure.

I agree Oakland and Jacksonville are going to want to stay top 5, but if they get an RG3 like offer, I would imagine they would take the lesser pick.

And I know how you feel about MM, but I dont think I'd trade next years first for him.

I'd do just about any deal that didn't include next years first. And I'd think long and hard about it too.

Next year's first could be so valuable, especially if we have a journeyman vet holding the fort for a year

Nothing is more valuable, in the long run, than a franchise QB.

That's a good point. Still don't think I'd trade next year's first, though. Nothing wrong with that mentality though.

We won't have to trade next year's first. So long as we keep playing as well as we have been, MM will fall right into our laps.

Agreed and I think, whomever the Jets GM turns out to be, the team should do whatever it needs to do to make sure that player gets in quickly, has a contract in place and provides all the support they can provide immediately out of the gate!

The key is to have a worse record then the Tampa Bay Bucs. Bucs have a more difficult schedule down the stretch and they might win at most 1 more game this season. It appears though looking at the tabloids and information down in TB - they like Winston more.

If we draft the Duck we will continue sucking so by all means, if that's what you want, lets do it.

Hopefully Oakland wants Mariota so we can go trade them our 3rd rounder for Carr.

Select Cooper with our first rounder

Any top five pick will do nicely.

    We have tons of holes.

QB, LT, and OLB are all big needs for a top five stud to fill in.

We could even trade down and still get an impact player.

Curious as to why people are down on Mariota. The Oregon system? If he was a dope just chucking and ducking I would agree. He seems to have the smarts to pick up an NFL offense, has the size to stand firm in the pocket, the legs to get him out of trouble and the arm to get the ball where it has to go.

Hes gonna be fantastic... if we wanna watch him light it up somewhere else for 15 years we shouldn't draft him
