First off, I'm a Rex fan. I think he was set up to fail this year. I think he's a good -- but not great -- coach. Bill Belichick couldn't get a job after his Cleveland fiasco if not for Bill Parcells. He became a great coach when Mo Lewis hit Drew Bledsoe. Sometimes you get lucky.

The 49'ers are in trouble. Harbaugh is in Year 4 of his deal. The GM and the Owner haven't moved to give him a new deal at the $$$ Harbaugh wants. There's reports of friction between Balke and JH.

If you are going to fire Rex after this year -- and keep Idzik (?) -- you have a disaster IMO if you let Idzik bring in Dan Quinn or even offensive coach Darrel Bevell from Seatttle. Fans will be PO'd.

But Harbaugh ? No Jet fan can argue about that hire....it'll have sizzle...sell PSLs......Captain Clutch....etc. etc. etc.

No idea if Harbaugh wants the Jets or NYC....he may want another NFL team....he may want to go with an established or young QB (Oakland ?) on another team......maybe he wants to go back to Michigan, which just fired their coach...who kmows ?

    Flies in the ointment:

    (1) Miami could fire Joe Philbin unless they make the playoffs or go very deep (and their owner could still fire the guy unless he went very deep because he's a Michigan guy infatuated with JH).

    (2) Dallas, where Jerry Jones could pay him $12-$15 MM/year if the RHG (Red Headed Genius) is fired, though if they tank if Romo is hurt Jones could deem it unfair.

    (3) Any other team with a promising QB and/or a high draft choice.

    I love Rex too.

If Jim Harbaugh became available, Woody should go all out for him.

If I'm Harbaugh why exactly do I come here and deal with this media market? I understand the money you're saying but he's not going to get that he's not Parcells and Parcells didn't get that.

why do the 49ers want to get rid of a coach that took them to 3 straight NFC championship games?

and a Superbowl (that they were very unlucky in). Supposedly, he doesn't get along with the GM at all. I wouldn't even consider getting rid of Harbaugh after this season, myself.

Harbaugh would probably punch out both Manish and Cimini by Week 7.

Harbaugh wants complete control. With Idzik around that would create a conflict unless Woody fires Idzik too.

Harbaugh is 41-15-1 through his first 3+ seasons as head coach. He has the second most wins in NFL history as a head coach, over the course of his first three seasons. Does he have talent? No question. But, he's won with a consistency that Rex could only dream of.

God Forbid he would have to pay Idzik while he was paying a guy that knew what he was doing!

Besides Woodly would most likely be ascared, and threatened, by a guy like Harbaugh

Their best players on defense (outside of Willis) have been injured or suspended. Actually Willis was hurt for a lil bit also. We need a GM / HC package that is willing to actually work together (this requires them to have the same vision in regards to building the team). There's not a chance in hell we get Harbaugh if Idzik is still here.

Idiotzik is a Seattle guy and probably wouldn't even want him if available.

I love Rex but he's history, Harbaugh would be a great replacement. No way this happens.

I wouldn't be shocked. But if they fire Idzik that tells me that Woody is easily swayed by the public and media.

It's too soon to fire Idzik IMO.

If Rex wasnt our head coach right now..and him and Harbaugh were available this offseason, Rex would be the better hire based on track record.

People can bitch all they want about how Rex is too soft on his players and is a fan of everyone. Well Harbaugh has the rap of being too tough on his players and guys easily turn on him.

So I guess thats the direction people want this team to go?

Not sure about the problems Harbaugh is having in SF. It could be just personal between the GM and him. But he does come off as pretty abrasive. It seems like some of the players are leaking things to the press while others are publicly backing him. I wouldn't give him 10 mil though. It's just not good business. Rex is paid through the end of 2015. He was given a one year extension during the off season because they didn't want to embarrass him (and themselves) by making him a lame duck. As for Idzik (if he's here and there's a lot of pressure on Woody to fire him, too) he might surprise people and not choose one of the Seattle coordinators. His Asst. GM is Rod Graves who he worked with for years with Arizona. Plus he was in the Bucs org before that. So he knows a lot of people and maybe someone he respects will be available this coming off season.

I really don't like the way harbaugh behaves on the sidelines during games. It's very unprofessional and undisciplined frankly.
