Maybe pressure wise you would be correct but sack totals? http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/defense/sort/sacks Stats heading into the game. There isn't a Justin Houston on the Steelers is what I am getting at. LeBeau has had to get the most out of a James Harrison off the streets. http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/defense/sort/sacks Not a single Steeler on this list. There isn't one specific player that can wreak havoc on your O-Line.
And you're surprised? This is Matt Simms we're talking about lol. He'd be working at Walmart, or selling cars or something if his dad wasn't a famous former NY QB.
Come on man......really. The guy came in against shitty team that wasn't prepared to see him and he still threw 2 picks. We saw him for 4 years and for whatever the reason he didn't get it done. Move on
Simms hasn't been given a chance. How would anyone know? I see, read and hear positive things about him. Why not give him a chance to play?? Geno is terrible. I had some faith in him earlier this season, but it's almost all gone. That absolute debacle last week was about enough for me. He had the same RBs the whole season and he was still at the bottom of the league.
Yes, let's give Simms a chance. While we're at it, let's bring back Tajh Boyd, sign Tyler Wilson and Brady Quinn, trade for Tyler Bray, and unretire Greg McElroy. They are all a waste of time--of course Geno and Vick are, too, so what's the difference?
Matt Simms is worse than Brooks Bollinger, he looked like shit. He has a quick release and that is it, he overthrew guys, had no pocket presence and has no escapability. There is a reason Rex put a concussed Michel Vick back in there, if Vick was dead he probably would have had Kerley play QB
Not to say disagree with putting Simms in but, every team in the NFL passed when the Jets waived him. So what is it that we need to convince ourselves he will be the answer to the Jets QB woes?
Come on man...really? He came in completely cold, no snaps with the first string offense during the week, led multiple scoring drives, his first pass was a gorgeous bomb, his first TD was incredible, one pick was a perfect pass deflected up by the WR, he threw TWO TDs, the last the game winner. LOLOLOLOLOLOLLLLLOLMAO. Btw, funny comment that he came in against a team that wasn't prepared to see the worst QB in the history of the league. Come on man...really. _
He is talking about being on the practice squad, any team could have signed Simms and nobody took a flyer on him.
I never said he was the worst QB in the history of the league, the guy played some good games here but his biggest issue was consistency and mental. Let's see what he does if he has to be the long term starter. He failed in New York, it's time to move on. He isn't coming back.
Why not play Simms? If he sucks, you improve your draft position. If he's effective, you might have some confidence in settling on him as your #2 for next year, which means you can use resources next year to draft/sign, oh, I don't know, maybe a CB. Either way you have your answer. Either the Simms "haters" or "fan boys" will be proven right by the time the end of the season comes. The biggest joke would be to keep playing Geno. We KNOW what Geno is. We know what Vick is. Play Simms.
No one says he's coming back. The dude played a great game given the circumstances. Why is it so hard to give him any credit? He's an ex-Jet. _
The reason you don't play Simms is simple, Rex Ryan and John Idzik are still employed therefore they are going to treat the rest of this season as if they will be employed next season. You don't do that by trying to improve your draft position.
Is Michael Vick our QB of the future? If not, why stick with him when we're not doing anything this year anyway?
