You're confusing two separate things -- how you feel about the teams success this season and the team overall which drives your fandom. Are you not a Jets fan in the offseason because they aren't playing? Of course you are because your being a fan is driven by something other than the on field team and performance. That's what he is asking about. What drives that interest, not what makes you happy about the team when it is successful. By your logic if you are more if a fan when they are winning than losing you aren't a fan at all when they aren't playing and there are no wins and losses to guide your level of fandom with the team. But that is because you are confusing interest in the season with fandom of the team.
Well of course in the offseason you look forward to the draft..and considering my baseball team is the Mets I usually want football to be back sometime around the middle of May. But if he asked this question after the season..or even before this one started. He would've gotten the same answers from fans. Plain and simple were a beaten bunch. And the players are out of touch with that reality. But in my mind if you're a fan of a team then you're a fan. Yeah you'll always have the diehards that are there watching in the cold when were 1-10. Thats just not me though. But at the same time Im not gonna root for another team either. If that was me I would've stopped rooting for the Jets a long time ago.
You are still confused about what he asked. He asked a broad question -- why you love the Jets which is not game or season specific and why you are a fan even in the off season. Whether your interest in the team wains or grows during a season based on their success doesn't mean you are more or less of a fan during those times. Those due hards in the snow when we suck aren't more of fans they simply haven't lost their interest in the season.

Absolutely. It will be frustrating if Vick really does improve the performance of hte O, and that alone will not mean a win, since the secondary is in shambles. But I am not convinced there are no good games in this team as long as Smith sits. I just dont want to see him play anymore for the Jets. They in effect torched two seasons for him already. Get out of town.
