    This is one terrible fuckin post.

    Show me where Country music listeners "average intelligence is lower than the other groups of music fans".

    country singers sing about their dogs, cheating spouses and trucks; rappers spit rhymes about they dawgs, how bitches be trippin', and they rides.

    yeah, huge difference between the intellectual capacities of those two fan bases enamored by those subjects.

    dogs=dawgs
    Cheating spouses=trippin bitches
    trucks=rides

    Am I in the ballpark here?

    Certainly seems like both crowds have something in common doesn't it... :D

    Well for one thing, it's difficult to lump all country music together into just one genre. Thus it is difficult to lump fans of the different types of fans together. What leads to this fact is that the most highly popular country artists have the lower average fan bases.

    Do I really need to go farther than Red Solo Cup by Toby Keith. Even Keith, when shown the song, is quoted as saying " this is the stupidest song I've ever seen" but eventually decided to record it anyway. Fans pushed that moronic song to 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, and to 9 on the Country charts.

    People can get mad at me for saying it, I don't really give a shit. If people want to say that all music genre fan bases have equal average intelligence, you're simply fooling yourself. The high number of less intelligent people who listen to country pull the average intelligence down, even though there are intelligent people who listen to country. Obviously SAT scores are not the end all be all of intelligence measurements, but the results of this are pretty clear.

    I never said they were the group with the lowest average intelligence, and clearly hip hop's fan base doesn't come out as highly scoring either. Doesn't change the fact that Country is among the lower groups.

    So because a "stupid" song is pushed to the top of the billboard chart, it makes the fan base look like they lack intelligence?

    Music is music. People pushed it up high because it's an attractive song that is funny. It has a funny message yet always attracts people to singing it. That doesn't mean people lack intelligence. We're talking about music here, not arithmetic.

    There is a time to do stuff and a time not to. When you're team sucks you arent going to distract a fan base by asking them what they love about the team you play for. I would hope that someone is in control of Decker's twitter for him and just had a lapse in judgement.

    But this post isnt about my love/hate for the Jets. I think everyone here would be more interested in this season if we were even 3-5 instead of 1-7. I know I would. I have zero interest in watching the game against KC this weekend. So if that makes me "fairweather" then fine. Why waste 3 hours and root when even a win doesnt do anything but hurt draft positioning. With that said I'll most likely watch but zero rooting interest. Not gonna cheer if Vick happens to play well and we come out of there with a win.

    So I dont get your point.

    I'll always love the Jets as a franchise but my days of rooting for players individually, especially now that Im older than a good number of them, have been long gone. Last guy for me was Curtis Martin and there probably wont be another until maybe we get that franchise QB in here.

    I would also add as a fan there is a love of the team over time, but how much a fan may like or root for this or that player, or a particular roster at one point compared to another, can and frankly usually does vary over time. For example, I was more of a fan of Kenny O'Brien's than of Browning Nagle. While still being a Jet fan at both points.

    I still have players on this roster I really like, like Mangold, Ivory, and to a lesser extent Ferguson, Harrison and some others. Kerley is a bit of a disappointment, but I am still a fan of his. Overall it's down from a few years ago, though. I don't think one need root equally as much for a roster of a bad year in order to avoid the fairweather fan appellation.

    And on the subject of the OP...

    I can understand a wife defending her husband, but she didn't need to say what she implied, that she doesn't care what some fans think as long as her husband makes big bucks and they can laugh all the way to the bank. Aside from being totally obnoxious, what does such a statement accomplish? Clueless.

    I don't know why you'd call Red Solo Cup an attractive song, but that's just me. I don't know what else to tell you, other than a life of experience only adds to the belief that country music caters to a fan base with a lower average intelligence than many other types of music. The popular form of country right now tends to be highly repetitive both musically and lyrically, without much depth in either aspect. People can like whatever they want, but they certainly aren't getting new or unique music very often when they listen to popular country music. I'll digress since I guess this isn't really the platform for a discussion about music, but I thoroughly believe that it's true, as it's true with hip hop. Keep in mind it's not a qualifier, that is to say everyone who listens to country or hip hop may not be of low intelligence, but when it comes to averages the stats are there.

    Being disappointed in the lack of success of the season doesn't equate to diminished love for the team. He wasn't asking if they were happy with the teams performance he was asking why they are fans. It's a question that is applicable whether the team is good or bad and the anger at the question is a reflection of the rationale of the respondent not a flaw in Decker's question or timing.

    Most mainstream music right now is highly repetitive both musically and lyrically. Country today is much different than country of yesteryear. If Bruce Springsteen came out in 2014 he'd be in the country charts for example.

    Your claim that a life of experience leads to your opinion that people of lower intelligence like country music is impossible to argue with because its baseless.

    Also your focus on red solo cup is stupid. Should I say all classic rock is for dumbasses and point to "yellow submarine" for example? of course not that would be unfair.

    You can make the same argument for almost every popular radio play song.

    When you're in the moment it does a little bit. When the Jets are winning I cant get enough of em. Talk radio, listening to the press conferences, really feeling shitty after a loss etc etc. But in a season like this what is there to look forward to? What love do any of us have for the team right now? Maybe Im in the minority on this, and if Im fairweather then Im fairweather , but to me there is a difference between being a bad team and being an unwatchable team. Ive sat through plenty bad seasons. But the Jets right now are unwatchable. What I saw last week against the Bills was not an NFL football team. And what makes it even worse is we have more talent than a team that is 1-7.

    But Im still more ticked at the fact that his wife had to jump up and "defend" him. Defend him over nothing too. I wont pretend that I read every comment that people left but I would imagine very few , if any , were ones attacking Decker. If thats the case then she has every reason to defend him. But thats not the case.
