Just because the draft is what the Jets are playing for at this point (playoffs are a non issue now).

It's way too early to know where teams will draft, whose stock will rise, whose will fall, etc. But what the heck. CBS Sports has a mock up for 2015 and the Jets select with the #3 pick....QB Jameis Winston, Florida State.
I Actually kid of like this pick if they take a QB....he's got his baggage sure but he's a top talent and he's dealt with and handled media criticism and the bright focus of his misteps and kept it from affecting his on the field perrformance...I'd trade down to get him because #3 is too high and the Jets need picks..but.....

Another site has the Jets drafting 6th and taking Cooper at WR...I like cooper but a receiver without a QB to get him the ball is a non flyer....still I would have no problems.

In my honest opinion this is not the draft to take a QB. I would trade back and pick up an OL or Cooper if he's still there.

Winston ... I have a feeling this is going to happen if Idzik is in the office still. I really don't want it to, but Idzik won't care about character issues if he's bringing in players like Percy Harvin, and D. Patterson (CB)

I think top 5 is too high for a QB in this draft too, but QB is such a mess that if no trade down were open I'd think really hard about it because Cooper is no good if you don't have someone who can get him the ball. But, if I was stuck at #3 pick and couldn't trade down, yeah I'd probably go Cooper or OL just because Winston's off the field issues make him too risky to take top 5. I don't doubt his on the field ability though, just with a top 5 pick you can't take that kind of risk..you gotta go sure thing.

If Zona doesn't resign Palmer I'd bring him in on a 2 year deal. Palmer can work with Cooper, Decker, Harvin and Amaro.

I really hope we stay far far away from Winston. I want Mariota or nobody at QB. I don't know see anyone else worthy of a 1st at this point. Kevin White or Amari Cooper is just fine with me.

Just for fun, and this is really really early and players will move up and down the boards and some players will declare and others won't.
    1) I'm not very familiar with a lot of the players after the first round so this is an initial feel/research draft and I WILL change my mind on some of these players as time goes on....I mean who knew that the 2015 draft is all we'd be playing for at this point.
    2) I'm working with the current draft position, which has the Jets at #3, 90% probable that position will be different at seasons end.
    3) This is a BORING draft. Anyone who's read my previous drafts know that I place a high value on having a strong offensive line. I'm old school, the QB may be the king of the field but without the pawns in front of him he's useless. aka I believe the game is won or lost in the trenches...it doesn't hurt that the QB draft class in 2015 doesn't look good at this point.
    4) If either Jamison or MM were to be avail at the Jets pick in round 2 then round 2 changes.
    5) every player after the 3rd round is considered a developmental player, including my 4th round QB pick..aka I don't expect him to start. In the first 3 rounds I went with safe picks who fit the bill and would most likely be starters from day one. Rounds 4-7 (minus the 6th round because I'm assuming the Jets won't keep "Mr Trouble" :D

Round 1 Cedric Ogbuehi OT Texas A&M, plug and play at Left tackle or Right tackle till Brick is gone or moves.
round 2 Ereck Flowers OT Miami or Josue Matias G Florida State...Listing two here because the plan is to move Flowers inside to Guard, but not 100% sure he's fit for that transition.
round 3 Corey Robinson OT South Carolina or Tre Jackson OG Florida State..again listing two here, but i'm more certain of Robinson's move to the inside.
round 4 Sean Mannion QB Oregon State. Project pick, Love his size, love his arm, he doesn't have much mobility and he has some mechanical flaws but he's a big reward guy and if he busts then it's a 4th rounder. I know he's projected to go higher but there's a lot of talk of his stock slipping so.....
round 5 Vince Mayle WR Washington State- Project pick. I like his size, he's not a blazer but he has good quickness. He's listed at 6-3, 219. His 40 time is currently listed at 4.52 but that was evidently before he shed 20 pounds to get down to 219. He's one I expect might move up the boards. but for now most sites have him in the 4-7 range for rounds.
round 7 Corey Grant RB Auburn -5'10, 205, currently listed with a 4.34 40. Currently a project player I think he'll eventually go higher but right now most sites have him 7th to UDFA.

I'm probably wrong on the draft round for some of these, but its' way too early and I'm probably severely over rating or under rating a few of these players. But it's early.

I'd probably try to trade down from #3 to pick up some picks as there are several OT's I like a lot for the first round and #3 is really too high to take an OT in this draft I think.

I know a lot of you will hate the concept of the draft, and at least some of the players selected...it's not a sexy draft but the O-line needs help and Brick is on the downside of his career, and like I said, I believe the first step to correcting the offensive problems is to fix the offensive line.

James Winston is not a character guy. Today it's crab legs, tomorrow it is personal items from his teammates lockers. No thanks.

Really the only thing that really bothers me is if the rape allegations that were dropped were true or not....if I were an NFL team I'd be researching that VERY HARD.

Agreed 100%. I could care less about the crab leg "incident". I have forgotten to pay for things in the bottom of my shopping cart as well. Jameis (like every superstar D1 athlete) gets a ton of perks from the university and boosters (whether they'd admit it or not). Do you really think he'd purposefully steal crab legs? No.

His "speech" in the student Union doesn't bother me either. He said what most football players (hell college aged students) say anyway, just in public. If he wins, he could say "**** you in the ****" all he wants, especially if it's to our beat writers.

The rape accusation scares me, as that actually is (obviously) telling on ones character. If that checks out though, and he's telling the truth, I'm 100% comfortable with him as our franchise QB.

    Otherwise, go Peat.

Next three years, Jets bolster their OL and LB corps. This also means Jets should draft a QB in round 3 or lower, and develop him into the role.

    They must draft secondaries too.

A QB to look into R3 is Garrett Grayson. Hes been balling the last couple games and seems to be a stealth riser.
