People on this forum have already noted Byron Maxwell being a free agent this upcoming season, and perhaps us targeting him. But there are also 2 other interesting players for Seattle who will become free agents this year, their 2 outside linebackers, Malcolm Smith and KJ Wright. I don't follow Seattle all the time, but those 2 guys looked really good in their SuperBowl run last year. Malcolm Smith was the one who knocked up the ball that Sherman intercepted against SF and was the Superbowl MVP, and generally those 2 guys looked really fast and good in coverage, as well as being really good tacklers. Smith has a bit of an injury history, but hasn't really missed a lot of games during his career so far.

I am sure Seattle wants them back, but the problem is, they gotta resign Wilson to a huge contract, have just signed Sherman and Thomas to all-time record contracts, and now have Maxwell, and some other players coming up for new contracts as well. Also, Seattle is really good at developing young linebackers, and apparently they have some prospects they are grooming for those positions already. So what do you guys think about us potentially getting one or both of those linebackers from Seattle in the offseason? A linebacking group that includes Davis, Smith and Wright would be very different from what we have now, much smaller but also much faster.

If we keep Rex, or bring in another coach who sticks with our current 3-4 scheme, that probably won't happen, but if we replace Rex with say Dan Quinn, the Seattle DC, or another 4-3 coach, that would be an interesting linebacking core.

I definitely feel the LB corps needs a bit more athleticism there...as much as I love Harris, he's really a 2 down type LB...a liability in pass coverage right now. Smith and Wright are solid and can cover a bit more...and with the beasts up front, they may get even better.

We need another ILB to pair with Davis. We should walk away from Harris at seasons end.

I still like Coples a lot as a player, I don't know where he stands with the Jets though. Pace is shot, Babin has played wel but is getting up there in age. Realistically we need 2 more LB's. One inside and one outside.

You love Harris? Seriously? You'd be hard-pressed to find a more useless LB in the NFL. he is a complete bag of shit.

Yes, let's continue to take on the Seahawks leftovers; it's the only thing this piece of shit GM seems capable of doing anyway.

He's starting to remind me of Bradway how he was always looking at KC castoffs. Unless it's Thomas, Sherman, or Wilson I'm not interested.

I don't know if it's the players or if it's an entire team thing due to the drills the coaching staff made them participate in but the entire team is a fantastic tackling group. Right down to the wide receivers that play special teams, so looking at these 'castoffs' as plug and play players wouldn't be a terrible thing. You can certainly hang your hat and a defense on tackling and speed.

Yes in the sense he's a nice guy and has been a true pro for the Jets. But like I said, I definitely wouldn't mind a change at his expense.
