Its called bring up a point.

Its stupid to even talk about Mariota to the Jets when the season isn't over and the draft order hasn't even been set yet. Its stupid to even talk about trading up for Mariota when you have no idea what the cost is or if its worth it to make the move.

Stop being a dick for once.

LOL, so YOU won't hold it against him if YOUR fantasy about him not wanting to play for the Jets somehow comes to fruition in 7 months.

I'm not being a dick, at least not this time. YOU keep talking about YOU not holding something against him that has no basis in reality. You're whining.

And I don't care what it takes to get him, even if we're drafting 1oth I trade whatever it takes to move up to get him.

I will root and cheer for any player that joins the Jets no matter what, everyone gets that fair shake. I would hope not as a Jets fan that a player doesn't want to be apart of this team but why deal with the inevitable Sanchez or Smith comparisons IF Mariota has a string of bad games? Why deal with the sharks of the NY Media that will always be around, that even come for multiple SB title winners like Eli Manning?

Just wouldn't be a surprise if it happened. Just pure speculation.

Cook still has better footwork under center than Mariota (who has no experience what-so-ever under center). Cook runs a pro-offense, he goes through progressions - Mariota does not do that either. Cook can move within the pocket, and while his footwork needs to improve - it will be no-where near as bad if you start seeing Mariota take snaps under center. Cook needs to refine his footwork, but that's his only glaring issue at this stage of the game. Mariota has plenty of other aspects that must improve if he wants to be a starter in the NFL.

You would trade an RG3 like package to move up and grab this guy? That's not going to get the Jets anywhere.

How is that whining? Where did I bash Mariota? I am taking a jab more at people who try and make the Jets QB vacancy out like we are awaiting some savior. You can make your advertisement revenue elsewhere if you're a superstar. Cam Newton in Carolina has gotten commercial after commercial. JJ Watt who plays for the Texans has been on multiple commercials. I just don't see what is so shiny about the Jets position. There's so much unnecessary baggage for an outsider like Marcus Mariota and his family/advisers to go through with if taken by the Jets.

I don't share that philosophy. I don't make an RG3 type of trade, but I know you love Mariota and want a franchise QB even if it means taking one every single draft until you get that one.

Yeah, I'll pass on Mariota if it takes an Rg3 trade to get him. Look at what the Redskins have gotten.

Something about him makes me nervous. It appears like he hasn't seen real adversity on the field and they don't play particularly good defense in the PAC 12. I worry about the first time this kid gets knocked around by a good NFL defensive pass rush or a coordinator that messes with his head with different looks. Does he still have the ability to avoid the rush and read defenses? Or was it too easy to flip a pass to any of the skilled RBs/WRs that Oregon has had over the years and watch him take it to the house?

I also am concerned about his accuracy. In this day and age, if I am taking a QB at the top of the draft I want accuracy to be one of, if not his strongest attribute.

So that would be true about anyone we pick. Big bad NY.

I've been watching a lot of Cook and it looks like he's literally tripping over himself at times. He's got that knee brace, not sure if he's hobbled but he does not look like a fluid athlete.

Mariota looks like a ballerina by comparison.

Just because someone doesn't do something doesn't mean he CAN'T, it just means he hasn't been asked to. Why change up what they're doing with the success they've had. Oregon's job is not to get him ready for the NFL.

You are whining because you are putting YOUR insecurity or distaste for those mean people in NY on Mariota.

You have no idea what's in his head.

So you're speculating that if your fantasy comes true that he ALSO is insecure and has a distaste about those mean people of NY that YOU won't blame him for weaseling his way out.

    It's silly.

Oregon offense has been making QBs look good for decades now. I could care less about a ballerina, Big Ben doesn't look like a ballerina moving around the pocket. Cook gets the job done - and even so if his only weakness requires some improvement on his footwork, I think Cook is well on his way to being a good pro prospect. I've seen the NFL comparisons - it's Carson Palmer pre-injury and Palmer was a stud prior to the Steelers playoff game.

I think you are over-exaggerating in regards to Cook "tripping" - but that's fine.

If Cook comes out this year, he might be a late first round pick which is FINE by me. Get Cooper or the best offensive lineman early, then go get Cook at the end of the first.

The Skins had one of the most dynamic players in the league until he got hurt.

If he stays healthy maybe they become perennial SB contenders.

    The Skins took a shot.

A shot we won't take and we'll be stuck with 2nd round projects compiling 0.0 QB ratings.

    I'm tired of this shit.

Of course I'm exaggerating but he did get his feet caught up with each other in his last game and almost went down.

We do have sharks in the NY media and they are some of the worst in the country because the pedestal is big enough where guys careers can get made like with what Manish Mehta is doing for the Jets by getting some national appearances on sites like PFT. This goes for all sports in this town(Besides maybe Hockey), not just the Jets. There are a lot of impatient fans in this fanbase so if Mariota is the starter from the get go or whenever he is called upon, he most likely(Judging by the reception for Geno Smith) will need to be strong or solid from the get go before the sharks start to see what Mariota's made of if he falters.

Its all silly. Its silly to talk about drafting him when we could (sadly) go on a mini run in December to move up in the draft. Maybe Mariota tears something during the combine or during the college seasons ala Mettenberger/Murray. I just won't blame Mariota in the least bit if he's hesistant about the way the Jets have been run and the QB flops that have occurred of recent time. That's all really.

Its not made up, its a fact we have had flops at the QB position from how they've been handled to putting the talent around them to the QBs in themselves.

You don't think potential draftees don't ponder about this? Its natural for every one player(Especially QB) to go and look at the situations of interested suitors and see trends. Its smart to do research on your potential suitors in fact.
