Can Fireman Ed work from under center?

I'm not saying Geno going to be a great or even a good QB but it still only his 2nd year. It does take time for most QB. I'm not going to lie it was hard to say that after yesterday game.

The guy now has 24 starts under his belt . . . how much longer should we have wait to see consistent improvement?

Simms problem with this offense is going to be his mobility, unlike with Vick or Smith they can move around to cover up the mediocre pass protection up front. Simms needs a clean pocket to make something happen, he won't get it with the Jets. Sucks because I think the kid is NFL worthy even if he isn't a star.

I think the more realistic question once Vick gets injured, which won't be long - who backs up Simms? There is absolutely no reason that Geno should see the field again in a Jets uniform. More than likely Simms will prove himself to be little more than PS material, but let the kid play and get confirmation of the fact...

The problem I have is there are no reason for the throws he made yesterday. Like I have no idea what we was thinking. In the tailgating thread, I thought maybe he has something happening to him off the field where his head isn't in the game because that's the only reason for some of the terrible throws he showed.

    Yeah, fuck it why not?

It is something being able to say "yeah, fuck it" this early in the season, for like most seasons since '69.

Geno isn't the answer. Vick might actually be decent after a week of practice with the 1s, and once he gets into the groove in a couple of weeks. That'll just screw with our chances for a good draft pick though.

Lets Simms give it a shot. If anything it'll let him, the team, and the league know if he's starter or even backup material. Something good can come of this season.

Simms is just going to make us look like even more of a joke. Time we suck it up, play the hot(or should I say less cool) hand between Geno and Vick, show up on Sundays and try to get some wins until this dreadful season is over.
This should be Vick's chance to show what he has left. If he blows it or gets hurt, which both could happen there's nothing stopping us from going back to Geno. Geno has a better chance to be on this roster next year than Vick.
As bad as he was yesterday he's shown flashes and can be a good (cheap) backup even when we hopefully bring someone in next year. He's been thrown to the wolves early in his career, too many turnovers to overly defend the guy but he's a young mobile qb, with 24 games starting under his belt.
Hopefully Geno can keep his head clear about the benching. If he can develop his game while staying ready for his number to get called at any moment it might make him a better player.

I'm not here to try and take up for him but he could had a bad day. Other then that I can't think of anything. Plus let not forget Geno is a Idzik guy.

And there's the problem. Idzik. Idzik is a joke, him selecting Geno in R2 was a joke and now Geno is a joke. Both of them should be gone in 2015.

True, but the facts are he has improved from last season and that what you want to see. I would also like to see more talent around him. He still growing as a QB.

He had shown some idea of what he was doing in both the Broncos and Patriot games though. The pick six that Geno threw as a desperate heave inside the 1 yard line garnered the headline but besides that, Geno wasn't that bad and it was vs a vastly underrated Broncos D.

Point is, I don't get how he can have a nice enough 2 game stretch and then compound that with the embarrassment yesterday. Is it because of the 3 extra days off? Like how is that even possible? Buffalo has a steady, solid all around defense but some college Qbs dont even make the throws he did. Going to Cumberland on the outside(WTF was he doing even on that route?), who is a slow TE who gets no separation. Then the overthrow by 7 yards straight into a Bills defender's lap.

Simms couldn't even start at his own college.

I agree 10000000% Idzik needs to be fired, but I think we should keep Geno at least one more year and bring in another QB and have a real QB composition next offseason not like the BS one they had this past training camp.

I would actually route for the Jets to win with Simms at QB. With Vick or Smith at center I want us to lose big, ensuring we have a new QB next season.

Put Simms in and see if we have a player. Vick can play, but this season is shot. We need to evaluate EVERY roster and practice squad spot. No one (save our DL) should be immune to stringent evaluation.

I've been on his side, but you simply cannot go out there and play THAT poorly. Yes, a QB has a right to an "off game". That was more than an "OFF GAME", that game showed me a complete UNWILLINGNESS to fight through his struggles. If you are struggling with accuracy DO NOT throw caution into the wind. He played like he didn't care about his job and so far this year he's prepared like it, too.
