Fully agree that the entire scouting staff shares blame or accolades in draft.

Kind of disagree on the ability to rate the 2013 and 2014 drafts. The 2014 appears to be a disaster after Amaro. If Dozier makes all-pro, then maybe the draft can be said to be ok.

I think the Jets need to clean house with everyone including Idzik, I"m sorry but the moves Idzik has made have all been failures, terrible draft, terribly assembled team. From top to bottom everyone goes, I wish ownership would go too but I'm being realistic.

Next year new QB, new coaching staff, new DC. And if we're going to draft a QB let him sit for two years while a veteran keeps us from being the laughing stock of the NFL again.

In my humble opinion, I dont think Idzik was trying to throw Rex under the bus by not spending the money, I believe that he honestly thought that he was fielding a good roster, I believe that. I believe he didnt feel the need to spend the money, he wanted it to rollover because he thought the team was sufficient enough. (which clearly is a scary thought if true).

The bottomline is it was year two, it was go time, not some long term plan, it was time to win, and he completely failed to put together a good roster. Even his signings were poor:

    Patterson
    Vick
    Chris Johnson
    Mike Goodson
    etc.

His drafts have been equally bad, the guy has no clue what he is doing.

I agree. It's not some conspiracy to undermine the HC.. it's not some grandiose plan of Idzik's to keep money and draft picks close to his vest, it's not a calculated rebuilding plan.. he is just simply in over his head and terrible at his job.

The Jets need to cut him lose at the end of the year. Cut your losses. 2 years of incompetence from a general manager is better than 3 or 4 for the sake of "continuity". He's not up for the task. Send him packing.

The best thing I can say about him is that he set the next guy up with cap space and a top five pick in the draft. Thanks for that Idzik, but pretty much anyone could've done that.

Yep and for the people saying that its not fair for Idzik to fire him after two seasons, tough shit. There is now law or rule book that guarantees a GM any amount of time. The only time he has is the time he has already been give, if they want to toss him right now, they can.\

Idzik was handed what was considered the most depleted roster in the NFL, in two years he has done NOTHING to change that, nothing, the roster is worse than it was when Tannenbaum left the building. Mind boggling.

For the people with more knowledge than me regarding FO people among the league, who is available at the end of the season?

Originally, I wanted to see Idzik's 3 years play out. Let him make the moves that he saw fit and bring in the coach he wanted.

Now, I think him and Rex both have to go. Firing Rex and bringing in a one year coach on Idzik sounds like a moronic move. If they struggle again we're just turning over the coaching staff again.

When I said total house cleaning from top down I meant Idzik too. Yeah some people can say he got a raw deal with only getting 2 years to show what he can do. However, what he's shown so far has been a big disappointment between his shitty drafts and lack of good moves in FA.

I have zero problem with getting rid of Idzik along with everyone else. With as shitty as this team currently is and the amount of cap space this team has, now is the absolute ideal time to bring in a whole new regime.

The Jets need a proven builder of franchises with a winning track record. Woody Johnson should be calling Bill Polian right now to ask if he wants the job. He's one of the most respected people in the business and has way too much knowledge to be hanging out with those ESPN hacks for much longer. Other than Polian, I'd look at the top player personnel people in the league from the best franchises and start the search there. The Jets need a football guy, not a capologist. Huge difference.

Next year we'll have high draft picks and a ton of money to spend, do you want Idzik driving the fate of this team for the next five years? I sure as hell don't.

Very true. It only shows how very bad his decision making is and how much the job is over his head. The buck stops with him. I never liked him but was hoping I was totally wrong about him,

As for blaming Idzik for the Dbs it's not anyone's fault there have been injuries. He's addressed the position mostly by drafting Milliner and McDougald. The only thing I question is going into a season with Dee as your main cover corner. After an up and down rookie year. No one thought he would be out for the season.

I think that was a typo on his resume, it should have read "Boy Scout".

Well, if ever there was a presser that said nothing about anything this was it. Waste of everyone's time. That said the circling NY media sharks will go hungry for a while longer it seems.
Idzik is either brilliant or the biggest bull-shitter since Walter Mitty.

He and Reggie McKenzie should have an interesting conversation on the unemployment line.

he's lucky Woody Woodpecker is 1 of the 32 owners because there is no way he would ever gotten an NFL GM job otherwise
