Is this really what the dems are planning on going with in '16? I'm starting to feel like a sexist already.
Some people just can't be happy taking the test in high school and starting their new government assigned job the next day. Free healthcare! Housing and food stippends for everyone! Comrade, the future is glorious!
Basically I've come to the assumption that unless the GOP can really come out with some new blood i.e.; Rand Paul or Ben Carson we as a country are doomed and the four years after the election we will absolutely hit a new low, I don't even wanna say rock bottom because I don't know if there will be even worse candidates in 2020.
She's right though, our corporations outsource to Mexico and China. Then when they do hire it is through temp agencies which pays way less than full time. Not a democrat or republican, but she has a valid point. We are losing the title of consumer nation because corporations are focusing on the short term goal and throwing long term success practices out the window. Who is going to buy anything when we are all broke? NAFTA and the new world order has undercut workers since the 90's.
no. no she's not and you have to be really dense to think she is. it's one of the most asinine things I've ever heard a politician say and that's really saying something. of course business outsource, that doesn't mean they don't create jobs. who do you work for?
I had the opportunity to meet, have lunch with and listen to Dr. Carson speak at my daughters school. He would have my vote in a heartbeat. The talk he gave to the group of students was one of the most sensible, straightforward and charismatic talks I have ever listened to. He is incredibly intelligent and tells it like it is. It used to be that the Presidency was held by GREAT men (Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Lincoln etc.) by world and historical standards. We haven't had a truly great person hold the office in ages. Dr. Carson would be the first in a long time.
Your hindsight is showing. Jefferson was roundly despised by a large faction of the country during his day to the point that he got elected president kind of the same way George Bush did. As for Lincoln, well, its an enormous understatement to say he was in fact hated by half the populace. Washington, before he was sanctified, while in office pushed like hell to have the capital moved to DC to benefit his vast private land-holdings in Maryland and Pennsylvania. The system of governance our sainted founding fathers established away back in the day was a deeply flawed system that reflected the compromises required by the exigencies of the day. It hasn't aged well at all, which is to be expected. The sooner we realize that our Constitution isn't a miracle from heaven and it needs quite a bit of work so we can fashion a workable system of governance for the modern age, the better.
From what I know of Carson I also like him. He seems very intelligent and thoughtful with his words. I have no idea how well suited he is to be president but I do like him.
Being despised by half of the country does not have a relevance of a persons greatness. It is intellect, character, lasting achievements and accomplishments - the ability to change the world. Jefferson wrote the D of I, had numerous inventions, founded UVA etc. I could go on about him and the others I mentioned. Regardless of whether or not they were ever elected president the men I mentioned and others to hold the office were great men. Obama, Clinton, Bush, Nixon -- Not so munch. Sorry to disagree but the U.S. Constitution is a very workable document and system of governance, unfortunately some people would prefer to ignore history and the pitfalls that follow when Government has too much power.
Don't be sorry. I'm not suggesting Jefferson isn't a great man. My point was that, in his day, people thought of him the way you think of Obama and Bush. The difference is that modern partisan strife makes effective governance impossible. I'm sure at some point in US history the Constitution was workable and provided an effective system of governance, but that history has lead us to the place where we are now. And its not an accident and its not because some people chose to ignore history.
I wish we had a system more like other democracies that allow you to vote for a party instead of individuals and the parties are then represented by the voted percentage. it would allow for more of a true representation of the people IMO. as it is it's nearly impossible for parties like the green or libertarian to grow even though many likely agree with them. of course that would also probably result in some skinhead party to have some percentage of representation so there's that.
I just did a de-installation job here not 3 months after I did the installation. I install Enterprise level Routers, switches and other Wide Area Network equipment. This company is closing its doors here to move to of all places, Juarez, Mexico. Every American employee was furloughed except for 2 Engrs that agreed to move to El Paso. This particular company is a Fortune 500 member and if I were to say the name, all of you would recognize it immediately. Now for the darker side of this. I was told that the locals were stealing equipment from the factory daily however, the wages they're paying are so low that this company still makes a profit. This is the rationale behind the move to Mexico. Now those Engineers fear for their lives everytime they go to work in the AM but I would like to think they're being comp'd to the nth degree for all the trouble. So, for $7 per hr, this company sold out its American holdings and put almost 1500 hard working Americans out of work so they could move to Mexico tax free, produce equipment to sell back to the United States w/o tariff. Why? Profit of course. The sad thing is, I'm told that many American Corps are doing the same move to Juarez. At some point, Juarez will look like Bangalore perhaps with more bullet holes, murders and kidnappings. So, there were jobs created in Juarez but to balance that out, jobs were eliminated HERE. Maybe that sounds like a great plan to some people, but I don't see the American middle class surviving this kind of Capitalism in the long run. Ross Perot was right about NAFTA after all.
Viva Mexico!!! Perot 1992: "We have got to stop sending jobs overseas. It's pretty simple: If you're paying $12, $13, $14 an hour for factory workers and you can move your factory South of the border, pay a dollar an hour for labor,...have no health care—that's the most expensive single element in making a car— have no environmental controls, no pollution controls and no retirement, and you don't care about anything but making money, there will be a giant sucking sound going south. …when [Mexico's] jobs come up from a dollar an hour to six dollars an hour, and ours go down to six dollars an hour, and then it's leveled again. But in the meantime, you've wrecked the country with these kinds of deals."
