I read several articles tonight that now would be a good time for the jets to change their head coach-- It would show the fans that the owner and GM care about the team and are not satisfied with the product. The jets are out of the playoffs anyway so why not change now and at least remove Rex Ryan's cloud of losing?
Won't happen. Woody has a crush on Rex. Woody was obviously the class nerd in middle school and all the football players shoved him around. Woody was a bigger nerd in high school and maybe the football team degraded him by sticking his head in the toilet. Woody now thinks it is cool that a professional football coach (well, Rex Ryan anyway) sits by Woody at press conferences and is his buddy. This is Woody's statement to all the middle/high school football players that shoved him around way back when--"I'm sitting by a professional football coach, he likes ME, so there. What other explanation could there be why he sticks with this incompetence. Anyone got a different theory?

firing rex doesnt show you care about winning. rex is the least of our problems. parcells, bellicheck, walsh, shula... no coach is coaching this team to a winning season.

we have bottom 5 talent at QB, CB, S, WR, TE, OL, LB

we lack talent and have awful QBs with no weapons around those awful qbs and average at best pass protection. thats not a recipe anyone wins with.

anytime rex has a shred of talent, he did something with it. he went to 2 AFC championshup ames with mark effing sanchez

Yes, because not winning with no talent on the field is the fault of the coach. I'm sure it's the head coach's fault and not the GM's fault that our QBs suck, our o-line is ass, and our DBs are a complete joke. The head coach does all the hiring right?

    seriously...

the fact that his players are still busting their humps for the guy at 1-6 is a testament to why he should stick around...

1-6, down 21-7 and the offense turning it over and the team never mailed it in.

They have no one to replace Rex with. There are no former coaches or assistants who deserve spots. That is why he is not getting fired.

No, Rex should get fired. It's just that Dennis Thurman and MM don't deserve the job either, nor are they former head coaches who have proven they know how to do the job. That's why he is not getting fired, not because he is irreplaceable.

MM can handle the rest of the season assuming we don't have any OT games.

woody is sticking with rex because he is scared the minute rex goes somewhere else he takes off because he will have some talent there. and if rex wins he looks bad. Unless they get a big name replacement

Woody isn't going to be able to sick with Rex again, barring a drastic (and entirely unexpected) turnaround.

You Rex fanboys need to stop deluding yourselves.

Who do you think built this team with his draft-defense mentality? Rex Ryan has been here 6 years--you think he has the jets on the right track?

Most guys that support rex act like he is not part of the administration when it comes to drafting players, he has a voice just like the scouts and the GM does.

If we have no talent on this team, it is the fault of the GM, HC, DC, OC, & Scouting Staff. The GM signs then, the scouts report and find them, and the Coaching Staff is in on the draft selections. Woody needs to blow this team up and fire everyone from the GM to the lowest scout. Then hire a good GM with the authority to hire his people. Let the new HC pick his new QB, either FA or draft which he will have to live or die with. Rex got two shots (drafted two QBs) and more chances than most HCs and he through them away. Rex totally ignored the offense and when his defense started to suck he had nothing to fall back on. Idzick was Woody's fifth choice and he looks like it. Hope he is gone when Rex leaves.

It's obviously time for a full house cleaning. There's nothing to debate at this point. This is the worst team in football. No talent, leadership, direction or identity. Everyone needs to go.

Does Rex have to murder a nun or something in order to get fired by some of you? Seriously, the guy is garbage. Finally he is out of excuses.

He would claim it was self defense because she looked like a robber dressed in all black and he would get a pass from his supporters.

Not something Woody has to worry about. Rex will suck no matter where he goes. He has no idea about how to be a successful head coach in the NFL

Again, don't think this has anything to do with it. He is going to fire both Rex and Idzik the day the season is over and offer both jobs to Cowher. If not, and Harbaugh becomes available, Harbaugh gets full control too.

As for Rex succeeding, I can see him being a DC next year somewhere (has plenty of connections in the league), having a top 3 defense, than getting another HC in 2016.

I would just let Rex coach the whole year and hope the teams quits on him so we can get a top 3 pick then can his ass. His defense is overrated anyway and hasn't been a top defense since year 1
