I take Mariota, Cooper is a great prospect but this is a QB driven league. You have to have a solid option under center.
Well it'll certainly make plenty of headlines if we are in a position to draft the top rated QB.... Still think it's risky cause how can anyone be confident in the jets ability to pick the right guy, prepare him, protect him, and give him the talent around him. I'm not, that's for sure.
Yeah I do. Great frame, great arm, high football IQ, accurate, stands tall, quick release, fast as hell. _
He's not as talented as many seem to think. I am an alumni of FSU and have watched him for a couple years. When Benjamin was drafted, he started to show his true colors. Not being able to throw it up for grabs starting to take its toll on him. He's got a TON of off field issues and is a headache to have. Constant issues off the field, immature, and lacks the pocket passing skills. This is all my opinion. I hate him if we take him. I don't think he will be much of anything in the NFL
I'd hire Greg Roman...The OC of the Niners and have him groom Mariotta...He made Alex Smith and Colin Kaep who they are today. I'd get Marcus and keep him on the bench for a year and then go get a vet for next year
i've been watching film on him and his throwing motion and foot work are pretty bad, but everything else really checks out. FSU runs a pro style blend offense. he can read a defense and i've seen games where he's done a good job at picking up the blitz and countering accordingly. i personally think his football IQ is the best in the draft. he clearly has all the physical gifts and i've been impressed with his accuracy and his ability to make plays out of nothing. he isn't looking to scramble for a first down, but rather use his feet to make enough time to throw. when his 1st option is taken away he is willing to go onto his second option, but he does panic. that's understandable i do like mariota a lot too, but he has fumble issues. i'm not thrilled with him coming from a spread offense where he has to make quick reads and not read a defense. i haven't watched tape on him yet, but i plan on doing that soon also jstokes, we all know rookie QBs don't sit for a whole season. it's difficult to sell to the fan base
Greg Roman is about as overrated as they come. He's a poor playcaller, and he's been blessed with a stacked offense, yet he has still under produced. He wouldn't last two seasons in NY, I'd rather have Dan Quinn or Bevel.
Can Mariota actually snap the ball from under center? I watched a few games on draft breakdown and he didnt once, I was left underwhelmed.
Stokes Can you compare Mariotta to last years drafted QB's? Also not a regular visitor to the draft board. Who has better tools as a QB. I heard Winston has some off field issues. From a pure talent perspective, which one is better in your opionion?
He might be there tbh. Lots of teams have qb that they are solid veterans or gonna be 2nd year qb's . Only team I can think of that might draft before us is Titians I mean maybe buffalo, bucs, Rams But they all have iffy qb's they can stick with other than that no other team really needs a qb
There is no point in taking Winston. He would never survive in the ny media. He gets enough attention already imagine in ny media? It would be nuts.
I say throw out cash to a top wr in Fa then if Mariota falls to us take him. Then our offense is set. Sign 1 major cb and sign couple middle ground ones. Draft a cb in 2nd round. 3rd round to 5th draft o line
I think he's closest to Carr quite frankly even though I still liked Teddy better. Tall, quick release, strong arm, accurate, fast, smart, athletic runner (Mariota is a much better runner). I think Mariota will be a better pro than Winston plus Winston is even a bigger knucklehead than Geno. Not the face of a franchise. _
