He's not exactly a young guy either. My first thought when I heard the story was that he was a 20 something just a few years out of medical school and working for an NGO because he was still in the footloose phase of his career. He's 33, he really should have known better. By that age you're well over the "I'm immortal bad things only happen to other people" phase of your life.

Shit, scary! When I get on the train tomorrow I'd be lying if I said I'm not a little afraid. I'm not understanding people who have come back from ebola stricken areas judgement. Going bowling, wedding dress shopping, getting food, going on a cruise. What are they thinking? Better to be safe than sorry. Quarantine yourself. There should be mandatory quarantine.

tomorrow is friday too. All you are going to hear on the subway and pretty much everywhere in the city is about ebola and people going crazy over it. More fights on the subway because someone sneezed and complaining they want more space. Im glad I dont ride on the L train. That train is always shoulder to shoulder with little space.

I have to use the L train. I hope they pulled the trains that he used out of service. He tried to self-isolate himself just so happen to find himself doing all these things Restaurant /Harlem /Uber/The High Line/3 mile run /A Train/1 Train/L Train/bowling. I pray he's going to be alright but I wish he had quarantine himself.

I don't think anyone riding the subway tomorrow should be concerned. It's more the people who were in contact with him last night.

While I don't think that will happen certainly pretty careless on his end, welcome to our society. I am more important than you and it's all about me. This asshat should have known better. You just came back from fucking West Africa on the front lines fighting Ebola and you are out going bowling. What an asshole. He of all people should understand how long this hit takes to show up unless he knew he came in direct contact with this and came home knowing full well he could have gotten it and felt his best chance of survival was here.

What I don't understand is why there isn't some type of mandatory "cooling down" period before these guys are just allowed to get onboard a passenger plane and go wherever the fuck they please.

Well someone at CNN and Faux News just got giant stiffies after this news came down... a whole weekend to sell fear and panic to the general public.

I don't get why people coming back from these areas just go about their regular life either. Especially this doctor who cares about other people enough to put himself in that position: why wouldn't you have the same courtesy for people in your home town or AT LEAST your family. Man, if I was coming back from the epicenter of Ebola I wouldn't want to even see any of my family until I was 100% I wasn't carrying the disease.

I'm sure everyone thinks that they are fine and that's why but I agree there should be a mandatory 21 day quarantine for anyone returning from any area where Ebola has been confirmed. Otherwise you risk further spreading.

I just tried google searching an couldn't find a bowling alley in West Africa. Business opportunity right there.
