i hate when he uses the dumbest stats… we give up too many points every game, we are awful on 3rd downs, and the d never creates turnovers…all those things make good defenses
Rex can spin it any way he wants; we lost all six games. There are no prizes for pyrrhic victories in the NFL.
problem is you can't group them all together into single averages and compare them because you just need one exception to distort the total. you have to compare what each QB's stats were against the Jets versus each other performance individually, and find out if the Jets were the worst, best or somewhere in between. he should stick to writing because he clearly can't think. looking at the two best QB's they have faced, for Peyton's season performances the Jets are right in the middle, so his nonsensical average is meaningless. http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/1428/peyton-manning Rodgers - right in the middle. http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/8439/aaron-rodgers Rex has clearly exaggerated, but Manish's analytical abilities in dispute are laughable.
Who cares? What does this meaningless comment matter? Seems like a lot of you reach for anything that gives you any type of leverage to be pissed off. I just don't get it. This is literally, a non issue.
Great, Rex should call the NFL, tell them what he blogged, and ask them to adjust our record because we really should be 5-2. Of course we're in year 4 of the rebuild so 3-4 or better should be out of the question.
Who gives a shit what he says to the media. Some of you just find anything you can to jump on Rex. We get it some of you want him fired.
It could also be pointed out, that Rex even illustrating this point shines a spotlight on his deficiencies as a head coach. He's just too focused on one side of the ball.
What about when Rex's vaunted D needs to make a BIG 3rd down stop (and the whole stadium knows that Rex will be dialing up one of his famous blitzes)? I can't imagine, just based upon visual recall, that the Jet D isn't significantly below average in this important area. Until your D can actually make some big stops just shut up!!!!!
I'd be more interested in learning whose D has played the most minutes so far this year. That would be a pretty good indicator of how our D ranks against top competition as they've probably logged minutes near the top of the league already.
Yes but BP was the sayer of the quote U R what your record says U R & right now our records stands at 1-6 is that correct?
Reminded me of the 90's when Dan Duquette replied to criticism by letting everyone know that "the Red Sox spent more days in 1st place than any other team in the AL East"... unfortunately, the Yankees spent the last day there... yet again.
Jets are 27th in the NFL, allowing a tragic 46.6% third down conversion percentage. And it's made even worse by the fact that this defense NEVER forces a turnover. Those two things add up to never getting off the field. It also explains why we're the only team in the league that hasn't had a single 4th down attempted against us. No need for our opponents to make 4th down attempts when they're converting every other third down, and playing with the lead.
I agree, sometimes Rex needs to just keep his mouth shut, but you really have to look at this thing from an outside perspective to understand the thought process. This team is so devoid of talent, it's scary. We have a QB who can barely finish a game without a turnover. We have corners who couldn't stop a nose bleed. We have one legit WR, who against any good team, will be covered primarily by the best corner. Our passing game is ranked second to last in the NFL and our QB is the second to worst QB in the league. We went up against Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford, Philip Rivers, and Jay Cutler. Look at that list for a second. In all but one of those games, we lost within one possession. The Denver game was a late last ditch throw that resulted in a pick six. Yes, moral victories are for cowards and they don't mean shit in this league, but you gotta really look at this thing. Idzik has given Rex nothing to work with. Nothing. Yet, here we are putting up solid performances against the best quarterbacks in football, back to back to back. We suck. It's obvious. But you gotta give Rex props where props are due. He has done one hell of a job keeping us in these games with the roster we have. I'm simply amazed we were that close in all but one of them.
I was just giving my HO that, what his quote is, doesn't matter because he did not bring the VLT to the NYJ and he is just another failure here with the Jets. His quote means as much as RR promising a SB. Both so far are losers so I don't listen to either.
What formations have produced the best offense? Defense? Are Coples abilities being wasted in the current system, or is he just not the player we all thought he was. Is the secondary really as bad as most believe it is? Are weapons really the reason Geno is struggling? Will he perform better with quality WR's or is he just not a good QB at all? Why is Kerley struggling. Those are just some examples. If you would rather talk about how the media portray's the Jets, than that is your perogative. I just think its silly.
^Interesting list of the Jet's problems that you have laid out. Who is ultimately responsible for addressing these problems?
