The naysayers will find a reason to shoot down any idea. He's too old, injury prone, greedy, etc etc etc without even giving the idea a chance. It's not going to happen but come on man, Then don't complain we don't have weapons because no one comes in without some kind of baggage. And you say he's indecisive.
I didn't look at his cap number. Just speaking on him the player and the overall philosophy this team should be taking on offense. Someone said he had a cap friendly number plus Harvin can be cut at seasons end. I fully realize though that this is basically just a fantasy. It's not going to happen.
Deck, Harvin and adding a good receiver like a Vincent Jackson would put us over the top in terms of skill at receiver. He's not quite old yet and is still a top receiver I myself would really like a guy like him but doubt it happens now. If it were to be something somewhat cheap then yeah why not but more then anything would be something to do this off-season. A receiving group of Decker, Harvin, V. Jackson and Kerley would be sick. Either way if all works out where one good receiver away from being pretty nasty at wide out. Whether we get that last piece in free-agency or the draft.
Yes, but I think the obvious concern with Harvin is his attitude, which is the reason we were able to get him so cheap to begin with. Obviously taking all other things out of the equation Harvin is easily the guy you go with.
VJ is 32! He could have 1 season left in him before he falls off the rails. That's why TB drafted Evans. This is silly.
He's a little up there in age but not old. I definitely wouldn't say he's "washed up" he had 80 catches for over 1200 yards and 7 touchdowns last year with Josh Freeman and Mike Glennon throwing him the ball. Pretty damn good for a so called washed up receiver.
No but you can shoot down everything and then say the guy who didn't do it does nothing. Vincent Jackson is a good receiver. For the right money it would be worth a shot.
Some guys that come with baggage are worth it..VJax isnt cause of the reasons you listed. Couple years ago? Yeah Id be fine with it. But there's a reason TB is open to trading him. Cause like Harvin, he will be released in the offseason if they cant find a taker. Might as well try to get something. But it wont be from the Jets.
Percy Harvin for 6th - with a potential for 4th. And now, VJax for 3rd? For a 32 year old washed up hag? Pass the joint, son. This season is bust anyway. P.S. If Percy Harvin can be had for 6th, that speaks volumes about the market for WRs now, don't you think?
Can we get him for a conditional mid- or late-round pick? Even if the cost is greater, wouldn't it wreak of desperation to deal for him?
its tempting a line rebuild and cb are higher priorities now. i'd go for this if this was before harvin oh and if the patriots are thinking of this, lets do it
You're not going to take Jackson with his present contract. Just like Idzik isn't going to hold onto Percy at 10 mil per season. But if you could get both of them cheaper than half the price why not. IMO Jackson is still pretty good and if you can get him like Harvin on a non guaranteed deal I'd go for it. But its not going to happen so there's nothing to argue about.
We could also use a CB or 3,Harvin,Decker ,Amaro,Kerley and Ivory is a good line up,it sounds good on paper atleast, let's hope Harvin pans out
Most teams never get what they ask for. So go try and low ball them Idzik we all know you can at least do that good.
He costs way to much money and at his current age there is absolutely no reason to make this move while we are 1-6. The Percy move was different. I'd prefer drafting a stud in the draft anyway.
