I don't trust idzik and our scouting staff to make the right decision in regards to drafting wr talent so this is wishful thinking. If anyone has connections to the organization please pass this info along. I personally can't go through another frustrating season due to the inadequacies of our skill positions. Last year I wanted a combination of any of the following offensive skill players: dri archer, Colt lyerla, Jace Amaro, kelvin Benjamin, Jarvis Landry, Allen Robinson, jared abbrederis. This year just focusing on the wr position there are only 2 wrs that I want. Kevin White: http://draftbreakdown.com/players/kevin-white/ Kevin white can do it all. Check out his vids on the link above especially his vid vs Oklahoma. Doriel green-beckham: http://draftbreakdown.com/players/dorial-green-beckham/ DGB is this year's Colt lyerla. Off field issues should lower his draft stock. He reminds me of plaxico burress. 6'6 redzone threat just check out his game vs Kentucky.
Jets fan and WVU alum/fan here...Kevin White was amazing today against Baylor. Flame away, but he has the "Megatron" gene going on, where by every ball that is up in the air is "his ball" and he is fighting for it. Would fit well with Decker and Percy to make an amazing WR core for once... NOTE: I am in no way saying he is close to or better than Megatron, just there's the "it" factor.
If we have a top 10, I would trade back in the 1st for White. He is having a year! May even break top15, but is solid
I'll take Duke Williams or DeVante Parker over White, but you can't go wrong with some WRs this year. I hope we take one in Round 2.
Kevin White is Larry Fitzgerald 2.0. Haven't checked out DGB much but Strong from ASU and Cooper from Bama will both be 1st rounders as well. Diggs is a guy I love but I think he fits best in a role like Percy Harvin will be in. I'd rather have one of these big guys.
Who are some guys that are lesser known and maybe good value in the later rounds because with the needs we have at other positions and what we have at WR currently, a top tier WR probably isn't in the cards
It definitely is still a big need. Odds are either Percy or Kerley will not be here next year and even if they both are we still need another outside receiver. We've went defense 15 straight years now if one of these stud receivers are available you take them. Obviously a lot will depend on what we do in FA first. As for late round guys I'm not sure I think it's too early to predict the middle rounds.
I'm very hopeful Kevin White can stay on the board until early in the 2nd round. If this Harvin thing works out, that would be a pretty sick trio. Then they can re-sign Salas and develop Evans and Enunwa behind them. They could even let Kerley get overpaid by another team and get a comp pick in 2016.
After this year Kerley will not be here. We will still need an outside receiver but it is not a big need whatsoever we have a great option in Decker and a gamebreaker in Harvin. Having three top tier WRs is not a priority for us or any team. With our needs on Oline, QB, CB, OLB and ILB we should not be looking at a first round WR at all, thats a luxury pick. You take a luxury pick when your roster is full of talent not when its devoid of it. Passing the ball is not even our identity, its not like we have Peyton Manning running our offense. I would be happy with a quality 2nd or third tier FA signing that can come in and be reliable at a low cap number, and drafting a WR in the later rounds with potential. Thats how you spread out your resources and manage the cap not by blowing your wad on two expensive WRs and then using a first round pick (which we only have one of) on another WR all while neglecting other needs.
I think white is the second best receiver in the draft and with his work ethic, going from "who" to being one of the most prolific pass catchers in college ball this year, he could end up one of if not the best in the long run. That said, he's playing so well he could be bumped up to anywhere in the first, and if we pick a tackle R1, we could miss out on Cooper and White.
White went over 1k yards for the season on Saturday and still has 5 games left to play. Through his first 7 games, 3 of them were against teams ranked in the top 5. ***EDIT*** A little bit more on White... http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...eet-the-prospect-west-virginia-wr-kevin-white
Being that we hold the 6th pick I think the best option will be to trade down and try to pick up Kevin White & DGB along with possibly gurley if he can be had with one of the two 2nd rounders we could potentially have in a trade down scenario. Our offense would be set at the skill positions. Next year's draft we begin to retool the O-line and draft qb cook or jameis if jameis doesn't come out this year.
If winston doesn't declare and theres no QB there, trade down from 6 and draft either of these kids, both are the real deal....
