Are you saying "lol" because you think it's a stupid scenario? I really hope you aren't.

So far Idzik has flipped 2 fourth round picks for Chris Ivory and Percy Harvin
and managed to steal a 1st for a player coming off an ACL injury.

Say what you want about the other things Idzik does, and I always will lol, but he has mastered the art of trades

The "lol" was directed at David Nelson being on out roster to this point.

Well, Rapoport did say "received" instead of "are believed to have received" so it's likely he had the details of the trade in front of him or had spoken to one of the front offices or the NFL office to get details of the deal.

If he was talking to anybody else he should have used "are believed to have received" or "reportedly received".

I gotta be honest, I'm pretty excited to see him in the full green against buffalo.

Oh good. I thought you were saying that like Idzik is dumb for replacing Nelson with Harvin. That would have been a new low for this site.

Why is everyone so worried about the contract ramifications of this trade. He has no guaranteed money after this year and it is well known that he is an injury risk. Players seek the guaranteed money and stability that comes with it. This gives us leverage in contract negotiations in the future if Harvin doesn't live up to his contract. If he is stubborn and a locker room cancer and doesn't want to take a fair pay cut, then so be it we cut him and move on in the next year or two with no cap hit.

If Harvin works out and becomes a real asset the Jets could even trade him on if the situation was right. They have no cap impingement for trading him on his current contract. No cap hit at all.

Let's say he becomes the player he was in 2011. He's 27 at that point and probably worth at least a 1st round pick again.

Strictly from a talent perspective, without thinking about the money he's due, this is a classic case of buying low. That usually gives you some nice options down the road.

When the Jets traded for Holmes he was a free agent in waiting. He had all the control in the situation. With Harvin he's locked up for 5 more years and the Jets are in control.

Just got a DM from Chris Kluwe, tweeted him what he thought on Harvin.

Thankfully Harvin will hear this(Of course the NY Media will pepper him with nonstop questions) and if Harvin at all cares about his image and character that's come into question, he will have a chip on his shoulder to prove people wrong...at least enough to be a good soldier.

Idk how anyone could dislike this trade. He's a good player who we gave up little to get on a friendly contract. If he doesn't perform, we cut him. If he does, he stays. It's not like we don't have the cap room. People complaining about his cap hit are probably the same people who complain about our "excess" cap room available.

imo i belive hawks were also scared of this guy in the niners or cardinals once they cut him next season. Like Djax did to the eagles. You dont test a bad man like Harvin i hope he comes hungry.

Kluwe is super vocal in social media, he returns messages a lot and actually enjoys talking about the darker side of the league. He got released for his vocal views on gay marriage and has been happy to talk publicly about what goes on in the NFL for a couple years now.

Reading through this thread it seems Harvin wrote his own fate when he refused to enter the Cowboys game after being snubbed the first 3 qtrs. Coaching staff must have been LIVID and ready to cut him on the sidelines. No way they were letting him back in the building after that.

Cooler head prevailed and they looked for getting at least something in return (vs just cutting him then and there). They were NOT going to trade him anywhere in the NFC or to any AFC team they may face in the SB. That leaves the Raiders and Jets for a quick dump off. And they probably have Idzik's cell phone number in their Rolodex.

Idzik probably said 'Thanks but no thanks' to their first offer (conditional 1st) which meant cutting him outright or lowering their demands. They lowered their demands all the way to a 6th round pick. Then, before hanging up, Idzik said "Oh, and you're picking up his game 8 game check because he won't be ready to play that quick". Seattle said "Fine....just get him the fuck outta here".

ADB is Doug Baldwin btw. RW/No.3 is Russell Wilson.

Mike Florio of PFT added another interesting angle to all this, noting that the Seahawks were looking to avoid allowing Harvin create a rift in the locker room related to Russell Wilson's leadership style.

"As one source explained it to PFT on Friday evening, the Seahawks possibly feared that Harvin had sufficient influence over enough of the locker room to launch a mutiny against quarterback Russell Wilson, who despite not yet getting a franchise-quarterback contract possibly has become the target of some resentment among players who don't share his complete devotion to the game, and who regard the third-year quarterback as a player-coach."

Than why did the Seahawks trade for Harvin last year?

Guys only become "cancer" when they don't perform. When they perform and the team performs, nobody cares.
