You must not know what crap truly is for the LT position. He's been average to above average. If we are able to stick a good LG in there in between Brick and Mangold - the performance will get much better but they have to account for the shit we've had at LG.

OR, we can think that Seattle called Idzik the other day and offered Harvin. No?

People are acting like Percy was available all year and idzik decided just now to pull the trigger, like its a video game basically.

Until I hear otherwise I'm gonna believe this is like every other trade where the player wasn't availale for 4 months and nobody tried

    It's even better than that.

Last year the Seahawks gave up a 1, 3 and 7 for Harvin and he was injured and caught 1 ball all season. Then he came back to play in one game, the Super Bowl, and contributed 3 plus plays in a rout. The media was like "what a great move! Seahawks went all in and won the Super Bowl and Harvin was a big factor in the game!"

If the Jets had done the exact same sequence the media would have spun it as "what a terrible move. The Jets gave up 3 high picks for a guy who barely played all year and then he barely made it back for the Super Bowl and wasn't even needed then since it was a blowout. Same Old Jets... They're really going to be hurting without those draft picks or Harvin to show for them."

    Everything I've heard out
If Seattle is that the final straw came this week. We don't know for sure but it's sounding very
Much like he was not being shopped until fairly recently.

Yup, I couldn't believe this reading through my twitter feed. To give up that much for a player and get little production in return; they should be SLAMMED. Instead all I read was 'Kudos to Seattle for cutting the cord early?'....Wtf?!

You can't believe anything you read about the trade in the media, because as usual the media is just making things up to sell advertising.

Seattle and the Jets are both close-mouthed organizations. Nobody knows what was happening in the run-up to the deal and unless one of the participants goes on the record in a detailed way that's how it's likely to stay.

Exactly. I do find it interesting that a handful of players are disappointed he's gone. I wonder if that's why Seattle let Tate walk, both him and Harvin were causing problems

Seattle probably let Tate walk because they had bigger fish to fry with cap space going forward and they'd already given Harvin a huge contract. You can't keep a #2 WR at a premium when you're already paying another guy at #1 rates. It just doesn't work against the cap. Not unless you're a QB, LT, TE and 2 WR's type team and the only guy who has made that work is Peyton Manning.

also if harvin is a bad teammate why are multiple seahawks and vikings tweeting him good luck?

if they don't like him, they don't have to do that

And Im not sayin idzik is doing a great job or a lousy job....Im not saying that Harvin is gonna be great with the Jets ( no one ever is). But these conspiracy theories are so tiresome guys. Idzik purposely hanging RR out to dry and now Idzik is saving his own job with this trade or trying to make RR look even worse by adding a weapon but not really cuz hes hurt and blah blah. WTF. Can we never, not even once take something at face value? Maybe, just maybe, Idzik said to himself " we need a WR and Seattle calle doffering this guy and Idzik saw the contract is not restricting and he made the trade. That could not have POSSIBLY been the case?

Harvin is on a short-leash - they know if he fucks up again, there goes his chance at another contract so look for Harvin to be on his best behavior.

Spot on. I do question the timing of this as well but to be fair the Seahawks gave up a lot to get Percy Harvin before the start of last year. He played very little for them last season due to an injury. They weren't going to just flip him during the off season. They wanted it to work with him.

More than likely he was just made available recently and Idzik decided to pull the trigger.

I just went back through the Seattle players twitter feed and all of the big names ( Except Wilson ) had something along the lines of being shocked and bummed.

61likebow RT @topdogg1572004: Wow people are going to all of a sudden start talking smack about Harvin hmmm

    BIrvin_WVU11 Shit crazy

cliffavril This business is crazy... Hate to see my boy @Percy_Harvin go

    chrisclemons91 Wait a minute, wait a minute!!!! ??????

61likebow 2 Superbowl 48 champs to the Jets, Breno and percy.. 2 of the realist! #dirtybusiness they tell you your the future then give u the boot

    Any my personal favorite:
MoneyLynch Damn they got my nigga....

So that's hearing from 1 member from just about every squad ( Except Wilson? ). Doesn't sound like he was as hated as anyone here thinks or we're being made to believe,.. Sounds like this was a business move by the Seahawks,.. They knew they weren't going to keep him beyond next year with their 2nd round draft pick waiting in the wings and that bloated cap number.

He costs the Jets $6.5Mil for the rest of the season instead of the 12+ it would have been had we traded for him at the start of the season. He has 0$ guaranteed money on the contract and if he doesn't light it up to match up with his bloated number we cut bait or restructure. His problem with the Hawks was that they weren't giving him anything guaranteed. With out current cap space we can hit him with a lump sum up front and guarantees for a few years to come and he will be happy.

What he amounts to and if he's able to stay healthy are the biggest question marks here ( and the ones that probably make this a 2nd vs a 4th round pick ).

BTW - 4th round pick this year ( Jalen Saunders - Not on the team anymore ). On top of this,.. Having negotiated his first contract, If Idzik didn't think he could make Harvin happy with a cap friendly number he wouldn't have made this move.

Agreed, it already looks like the media got the compensation for Harvin wrong. They were reporting that it could be as high as a second round pick and now they're starting to backtrack on that.

Ummmm No. I don't believe in coincidences. This trade happened for a reason although none of us are privy to it. Seattle helping out their old buddy John Idzik just because? Nah, I don't buy that for a second. Frankly jonnyd, I'm shocked that you do..

The conspiracy theories are always going to dominate the conversation because they're interesting. Conspiracy theorists are always going to dominate the conversation because there's no way to objectively disprove their theory. You can point out that they're nuts but that's about as far as you can get in terms of refuting them.

The only effective answer if the conspiracy theories really bother you is to just not interact with them. Let the conspiracy guys enjoy talking conspiracy amongst themselves. If you really need to gawk at the accidents as you drive by then watch for the two guys who have opposing theories try to shred the other viewpoint. They don't have any better way to refute the opposing argument than anybody else but since they're a conspiracy fan they'll spend a lot of words trying.

How about the Jets offense blows chunks and has the Jets at 1-6 instead of 4-3 and when the Seahawks put Harvin on the market we were one of the most likely teams to make a trade for him?

That's a conspiracy theory that is so grounded in fact that it's hard to refute.

Why did the Seahawks trade Harvin? Probably cutting their losses before the cap implications became really bad for them.

I had 4 friends call me yesterday (all fans of other teams) when they heard the Harvin->Jets news. To a fan they were all shocked, jealous, and pissed at their own teams for 'never doing anything to help their team'. I got the feeling most fans hate their GMs for not doing enough, and this didn't help.
