@MMehtaNYDN: Jets are cutting WR David Nelson, per source. #nyj

Wow. Would've rather seen Hakim or Powell. Thought Nelson did a great job in the last year.

Wow surprised he got the axe over guys like Chris Owusu, TJ Graham, Walter Powell, and Saalim Hakim...

If he isn't catching passes he's a waste of a roster spot. He WAS good however it is time to move on. Thanks the effort D. Nelson!

I second this. Nelson had his day in the sunshine here last season. He did as well as his talent could take him. He's just not the calibre of Wr this team needs right now. He's "ordinary" at best. So, no hard feeling Dave, but cya down the road.

I just don't see where Hakim fits in. Harvin has to take over the KR duties he just has to. Graham must have shown something to take over the outside job behind Salas/Decker.

I thought Harvin had a rep of being "brittle". If so, do you really wanna put that guy on the suicide squad? Methinks they'll just keep him off ST's and use him as the field stretching deep threat they need more than the KR/PR guy they don't.

All height and no production makes David expendable.

(he just doesn't consistently get separation)

Ditto... he was useful last season, especially in the red zone, but seemed to be invisible this year.

That could sum up the majority of our WRs

Not surprised by this. Nelson has been very quiet this year and the emergence of Amaro as a possession threat kind of highlighted that.

Does not get open, does not fight for the ball. Bad combo.

I agree, Hakim is a wasted roster spot. What are the finances of the move to keep him over Nelson.

Was expecting a lot more production out of Nelson this season. He's been a big disappointment. But still pretty shocked that he was the one to get the ax.

If we have our new 11 mil a year wr who's injury prone as it is returning punts, I'll drive up to NY, break into Jets headquarters, and put my foot so far up someone's ass, they are going to cry.....

I think he'll be picked up by somebody but he hasn't played well this season although he made a good catch vs NEP on Thursday night. If he was in disfavor then why bother even throwing to him esp in important situations. I thought they would cut Graham another former Bills receiver who also hasn't played well.

Good, I viewed Nelson as a weak link in our offense.
