I don't know how people can think this is a bad move. We can get rid of him at no cost this off season if it doesn't turn out and only have lost a 4th round pick. In case you guys forget our 2-4 round picks the last few years include. Ducasse Winters McDougle Saunders Evans
Is it really that no one wants him or more that we're on the short list of teams that could use him and could afford him? Really, I don't get all the negativity here. What's the risk? I would think with all the criticisms of Idzik's drafting ability, people would be happy to get a proven commodity rather than an unknown mid rounder.
Those are simply a product of the idiot that was doing the drafting instead of the quality of the pick.
Talk show host from Houston. Obviously the most reliable and well informed man in the business of Seattle locker room issues. It's amazing really... Fat Albert with documented attitude and contract problems goes to NE (and cut the following year), and it's "Superb move by Bellichik, Pats are now unstoppable". Harvin to Jets on a much more friendly deal, and it's "Jets got duped". If this doesn't show the media bias to ppl, nothing will.
Look, we didn't just trade for Larry Fitzgerald ok? He's not DeSean either. For whatever the reason, Seattle decided to part ways with Harvin and although Idzik used to work there, I don't feel that Seattle would do him such a huge favor as to trade a game changer for a draft pick. Something just doesn't pass the smell test here. Yeah, he's a rental and probably will be gone along with Vick after the season. I don't think the Jets are stupid enough to do Santonio II the sequel especially with a young QB that's barely treading water as it is.
I can't believe anyone would think this not a good thing. This move is not just about this year or saving a season or saving a job. This deal was done with the intention that Harvin will be here for the next 4-5 years. The Jets took advantage of an opportunity to land a proven play maker, something this team as lacked for almost a decade. It is quite likely that they would have had an opportunity to try and land Harvin in the off season after the Hawks released him, but then they would be competing with other teams - and all things being equal who the fuck would pick the Jets. This deal has the potential to be very high reward with relatively low risk. If he stinks it up, they can easily cut bait and the pick will be on the relatively low side.
Right, so what are you saying? That Seattle was looking to dump him? Obviously, yes. These types of players get moved. The bottom line is that its a low risk, high reward move for the Jets.
Regardless, any other team in the NFL makes this move and its brilliant but because it's the Jets it's not.
Well it's great that you think all of this but if you have nothing to back it up (which seems to be the case based on what you wrote) than this is all wild speculation that has no value.
I live in Houston. The closest NY comparison that I can make for Lance Zierlein is an older Evan Roberts from WFAN. He's a local sports talk radio host; fairly knowledgeable about Houston teams.
It makes as much sense as anything and I was specifically asked what I think happened. This is what I think happened.
Any other team in the NFL wouldn't have idiots doing the scouting or making the recommendations either.. Tajh Boyd comes to mind. That pick was brought to us on the recommendation of Rex's kid. I hope he's not really thinking of being a NFL scout. Then again, our scouts suck so much that Rex's kid would fit right in.
think about it for a 2nd…I'm almost sure we could use a 2nd on a WR in the draft..decker is 27 and harvin is 26…we could have our core signed for the next 4-5 years
Well ... he knows a ton of people, just like Roberts knows Carl Banks and the other current and former players who come on his show every week. What they tell him behind closed doors? I have no idea.
Look there is no doubt that the Seahawks wanted to get rid of him real bad. So where there's smoke there's fire. But the Raiders got rid of Randy Moss and look what happened. A 4 th round pick ain't diddlysquat. We have nothing to lose.
Have you seen our track record in the second round do I think this is way too little too late sure... should we have signed D Jax instead 1000% but he is here now lets embrace it !
