We can cut him next year without having to pay him a dime. We can keep him for $10 mil and still have roughly $45-50 mil to spend. A few dopes around here are trying to act like this is "destroying our cap situation" but that's just wrong. As you can see in the past few posts, people hate facts and would rather believe fiction because it helps them self-loathe.
it leaves with a bit less rollover going into next year, supposedly 7-8 million less. so we have 13-14 million left this year, and about 60 million plus next season. we're good to go
I'm thinking idzik didn't want to pay full price 2 weeks ago (or whatever it was) when Seattle started looking to trade but told them to get a hold of him if they can't move him and the price comes down. Obviously that's a lot of speculation on my part but I think it makes sense given what we know atm. hopefully this works out for us ... the kid definitely has the potential to make a huge impact for our offense. The injury history and reported locker room issues are scary but it sounds like we have a nice parachute if the shit hits the fan.
untrue from what I read the jets can cut him next yr without cap issues. If the Jets fell victim it was to a poor gm at the begining of the season when he did not address getting another receiver to help a young qb That was the mistake and it costed us 2 to 3 games this yr. Squarely on the gm. You don't give away games or yrs because of some plan where you drafted 12 players and already cut 5 with two on IR. That is what people fail to see and that is squarely on Idzick This is the gm trying to fix that, because the owner saw the lash back and the fans and the media are protecting the coach and portraying the owner and gm as clowns
Is that the case? That obviously changes everything. But if this ends up turning into a 2nd round pick its a loss for us imo, he wont live out the life of this contract.
3 things stick out to me. 1. The "Seahawks insider" said it was the most shocking thing he's seen in 10 years, which lead me to believe he heard absolutely nothing about locker room issues. If he heard even the tiniest thing about it, he wouldn't be nearly that surprised. 2. The Seahawks need all the cap space they can get, because they have to pay their Super Bowl QB at least a 1,700% raise (you heard me, a minimum salary increase of 17 times his current salary, at least). 3. NFL franchises hate publicly admitting that any roster move, especially moving a popular player, is based in finance. They frequently leak misinformation to the media. The same shit happened with DJax, that cut was 100% financially based but they leaked very vague "character issues" from an anonymous source to make it go easier with the fans.
Apparently Percy is one of theose diva wide receivers that are never content. Seattle was getting tired of his act and they needed to unload his contract. If Harvin was tired in Seattle, I can only imagine his attitude coming to a 1-6 team...... Especially since this team lacks vocal offensive leaders.
Act of desperation, Idzik worried about his job. also, expect OC from to be next HC, which would make Harvin a good fit next season. Don't like the price of contract, but the draft pick was next to nothing, considering what Seattle gave up for him. Now when we still lose, Idzik can say he gave Rex what he wanted. Plus, Idzik is still hoping Smith will pan out to save some face. The truth is, this trade proves Decker was brought in by Idzik as a #1 and he isn't. So, now Idzik is spending $18M a year on two receivers which make the Jets the highest paying team at the WR position and we still will suck with Smith at QB. That is if Decker and Harvin can even stay healthy, which is very unlikely.
Yep, said this back in February, of course Seahawks fans ate me alive but it turned I was correct here: "I wonder how long until Harvin is cut? If the Hawks want to keep Chancellor and Sherman they likely will have to."
And here is the truth about this to, this trade could have been made in the preseason, the Seahawks had to move Harvin before the trade deadline, period. Could have done this months ago.....might have cost a tad more (like another 5th round draft pick but who cares?)
Jesus Christ, how about giving Geno a chance with actual legit talent around him? Of course, that wouldn't fit in with your Geno bashing agenda, considering you've had the same avatar even before Geno played his 1st NFL game.
