As soon as someone attempts to personally insult you, that's when you know you've gotten the upper hand. Not that I didn't know that already. You stated almost no facts. Close to none. No one ever called Harvin a locker room cancer. He's played more than 28 plays. You assumed Idzik made this move because the media pressured him into it. You said nothing that is confirmed as truth.
I wouldn't try to defend myself either if I was just proven wrong on about three or four different points. Continue on though, maybe someone dumb enough will buy into what you're saying. I don't know why people would rather be miserable based off incorrect things than happy based off fact. Makes no sense.
Was pretty surprised at this deal. At first I didn't like it, because it sounded like it went against the long-term building approach of Idzik, which I actually like. But after I read the details, I really warmed up to it. It would be nice to know the exact details of the compensation picks, but from what we know now, basically seems like a very low risk trade for the Jets. We are essentially trading away a 4th round pick to give Harvin a try-out with us for the rest of the year for 7 mil. 4th round picks are gambles anyway, so Harvin, someone who had success in the NFL, is a much more probable gamble than some little known college kid. Worst case scenario, he sucks, we cut him after the season, lose 4th round pick, no worse than gambling with the pick in the draft, arguably better. If, on the other hand, Harvin does well, we lose 3rd or 2nd rounder, but that in itself isn't bad, most of you would be happy with a game changing WR for a 2nd round pick. And he s still young at 26. The biggest issue in that case is his salary, which would be like 10 mil next year. But on the plus side, I read somewhere that the Jets might still renegotiate with him, and that might have been part of the deal, and even if they don't, there are no guarantees. So we can keep him, playing here at a high level, and if at any time we need that money for something else, we can just cut him. So in that way, it leaves us with a lot more cap flexibility than if we signed WRs in the offseason. As other people mentioned, it's also good to get him now to get a better idea about Geno. If Harvin shows anything, Geno has no excuses as far as weapons are concerned. Decent Harvin + Decker + Amaro + Kerley + Ivory is a heck of an arsenal. As far as his injury history, I looked him up on espn.com: http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/12569/percy-harvin His first 3 seasons, he was healthy, playing the vast majority of games. His 4th season he played 9 out 16, and last year he missed most of the season. This year, he s got some leg issues, but has played in 5 games. Does anyone know what his injuries were throughout his career? It sounds like Seattle only recently decided to trade him, so Idzik probably couldnt get him earlier.
I agree with the many people who have pointed out how bizarre the timing of this move was. The only thing I can think of is that maybe Seattle wasn't sold on trading him until now. If not, you just have to wonder why a move like this wasn't made weeks ago. How nice would it have been to have harvin for the few games that decker was banged up?
sooner or later he would have needed to commit to a player. I would rather have someone for less on multiple yrs from the start of the season then a move like this. Like I said I like the move it shows the they are trying to back the coach to some degree
They traded away a star player that they gave away like 3 draft picks for, for a conditional draft pick dude. Do the math. Listen to the reports on sports news about Harvin and you'll see what I'm saying has been reported by the talking heads. You want to feel like a hotshot knock yourself out, I'm not getting into a battle of wits with someone who's obviously bringing a spoon to a gunfight.

Seattle had to get rid of him, they are due to pay both Sherman and Wilson. This was coming for a long time, said it back in February, regardless, trading him was absolutely ideal for them. (Rice was another, both Rice and Harvin were due 20 million combined each year, bad contracts that Seattle has escaped.) The timing is a bit strange but they had to trade him at all costs and it was probably easier now, rather after the season when teams are looking toward free agency OR Harvin suffers another bad injury.
People like you are helpless. You believe what you want to believe because it fits your agenda. Speaking of math, you're aware of Seattle's cap situation, no? They need to pay their Superbowl winning QB about $15 mil, probably more. The easiest way to clear money is to trade away the guy you won a Super Bowl WITHOUT that is making $10 mil a year.

It had nothing to do with the problems, it was 100% cap room. If they didnt move Harvins contract they were losing either Wilson or Sherman point blank. They resigned Earl Thomas last offseason to, Seattle had to move this contract at ALL costs. So Seattle had to move him and this was their chance, and you can say "well why now?!?" ......because the contract is so bad that no other team would take this later on. If Harvin got hurt between now and the end of the season the Seahawks are screwed, if no one else wanted that awful contract, the Seahawks are screwed. Jets fell victim here and I am disgusted.... (I like the player, but its Holmes contract 2.0.....unreal....)
