My question is knowing we needed another receiver and after seeing what was going on why he did not make a play for tate, sanders or anyone else during FA. The cost would have been less and we would be closer to if not over 500. It smells of desperation but I like the move just too late to make an impact on the yr but he will get the ball here. I think Rex threaten to go to the media and forced this
I think because of the low-risk investment in Harvin. If we signed Tate/Sanders or someone else there would be guarantees and a multi year investment. Which is typical Idzik. However, it worked out with Ivory.
You're again acting like there's no NFL past this year, which makes no sense. And do yourself a favor... Google the words "Geno Smith West Virginia bubble screen Tavon Austin"
8 months ago, I mean after the Superbowl, if someone told me Jets would have both Decker and Harvin under contract for 4 years in only 8 months I would say GTFO here. Well now it is a reality. Harvin in Vikings was a threat. It didn't work out in Seattle but the guy can still ball. Low risk, high reward. Being able to cut him this summer with zero cap implications makes this worth risking a mid round pick. With this trade, I now believe more and more that both Idzik and Rex are staying next year.
Well considering the had 51 catches and almost 800 (788) yards his rookie year coming in as a rookie FA and having Tarvaris Jackson throwing him the ball tells me he has some skills. It's really not out of the realm of possibility for him to get 200 (212) more yards with more catches if he ever played in a pass first offense. Sadly we will never see it from him unless either he goes to a new team or we switch our philosophy.
a move like this has a bit of desperation in it. not necessarily bad but gives some folks a reason now to watch the jets a bit more.... imo, they can bring 12 harvins, until we change the QB and build a non-delusional roster with talent, it wont matter. jets are trying to look like the smartest kid at the party, again.
This move just shows the inept nature of John Idzik. We knew we needed another WR even after acquiring Decker yet we didn't make a move on any other available FA's. Jackson becomes available and no move was made to bring him in because " he's a problem in the locker room" "he's got gang ties and we're trying to change the culture of this organization", yet here we make a move for Harvin in week 7 when we're 1-6? Talk about locking the barn door after the horses ran away. I think this move screams of Idzik caving to media pressure about how we have $21 million in cap space and he made no moves to improve the team. Talk about next season all you'd like with Harvin, if we decide to keep him under his current deal we will pay him $10 million. This for a guy who's played something like 28 plays in the past year and has injury issues along with being a locker room cancer. Just yesterday after the Pats game they were saying what a great group of guys they have in this locker room and now you add Harvin? He wasn't happy on a Super Bowl winning team that may be in their way to another, how happy will he be here? There's no denying his talent but this is a real head scratcher for me.
I hate when people have NO IDEA what they are talking about but preach as if their word is the bible. You are trying to equate DeSean Jackson's very publicized locker room issues with hearsay of Harvin's issues. Harvin has never been called a locker room cancer and he's played just a FEW more than 28 plays in the past year. Also who said Harvin wasn't happy? You made that up out of thin air.
Are you Idziks wife of something? Go cure cancer if you know so much, you're constant shilling for the GM is sickening
