No panic Jonny, need a dman for the 3rd pair, 2-3 is better than 1-4

You didn't watch most of the game and you're complaining about my critique? Staal and Klein were physical and fine last night and joined the offense on several occasions, they outplayed Danny G and McD, who continue to struggle

McD and Girardi played 3000 minutes of hockey last year and only stopped a few weeks ago. Give it time

Exactly, not worried about them, just wish we had 1 more competent dman for the 3rd pair

JT Miller absolutely sucks. He has had more chances than I can count!

I agree, what are we missing Hack, what does he do well? 59 games 10 points and a poor attitude, waste of a #1 pick

Girardi's never been a player that relies on his puck skills and skating. I agree that he's been worse in that area of the game recently. A lot of that probably has to do with the difference in system between Torts and Vigneault. Players who don't rely mainly on skill aren't going to be as good in the AV system just because of the way its structured.

He still makes so many great defensive plays and has found a way to miss only a few games in his entire career. He's still very reliable. I think your expectations for him might be a little too unrealistic. He's a good shutdown defenseman who does all he can to help the team win, he's a leader, a veteran, plays big minutes and he rarely misses games.

He's so much more reliable than Staal and a lot more durable. I also think he's just a better player. People who favor Staal still think we'll see the Staal before the eye injury. That player is not going to reappear. Staal is an inconsistent defenseman who's dominant at times but lazy and uninterested at other times. He's also a huge injury risk.

I was asking. Saw the box score and saw two penalties from Staal, so I wondered how that would mean he played well. He's not a huge offensive threat who will play poorly defensively but make up for it with his offense, so when he commits two penalties, I assume that it was the lazy and uninterested Staal. I'm glad to hear that he played well.

I was told by a Canucks fan that AV's ways get on your nerves eventually. I think I'm starting to see that. Why is Duclair not in the lineup? Makes no sense why he wouldn't be in the lineup somewhere.

I agree, and it only gets harder when Stepan comes back somebody else has to sit

Glass is a must sit for me, but AV really likes him. Don't think its going to be that hard to figure out what happens with Stepan comes back. He'll just replace Mueller.

I don't see Duclair's place in the lineup if Glass and Malone are both going to be in the lineup and if AV is reluctant to play Hagelin and Stempniak on the fourth line. Injuries sometimes happen, but unless they do in the next few weeks, I think Duclair is going to be sent back to Juniors.

This is the lineup I'd love to see if everyone's healthy

    Kreider-Stepan-Nash
    Duclair-Brassard-Zuccarello
    Hagelin-Hayes-St. Louis
    Malone-Moore-Stempniak

Why do you want to sit the only physical forward on the team?

You really believe Stepan is a first line center?

Because we aren't a physical team. We need to play to our game, which is a game of speed and skill.

I'd also like to disagree that he's the only physical forward. He's the only forward that will fight on a regular basis or deliver an illegal check on purpose, but thats really all he does that others don't. I'd much rather get skill into the lineup then pretend that we need Tanner Glass to bring toughness to the team.

Compared to the other centers we have, yes. I'd like to trade for Eric Staal though because what we have at center likely won't be enough come playoff time and he's not going to go for that much.

Spezza went for a top 6 winger, two average prospects and a 2nd round pick.

If we use that as a benchmark. Hagelin, Miller, Haggerty and a 2nd round pick in 2016 should be enough to get Eric Staal. Even if it costs a little more than that, and instead of Haggerty it costs us Buchnevich, thats a trade you go for.
