I have no idea why I keep coming back. I only got into football a couple years ago, the year after the Jets got into the AFC championship game in 2010. I decided to be a Jets fan, and was determined to stick with it throughout the years and its just been tough for me. However, I'm a new wave jets fan, some of yall been around for a while. How can you keep coming back to this shit. People always being like SOJ and such, has it always been this bad? I guess I'm still young and new to sports but shit man this is tough. Not only that but the knicks suck, fighting illini are always terrible, its probably so much easier to be a Giants fan or Patriots fan but I think thats the reason I'm a Jets fan, because its so hard. kinda hoping that when they do finally have a good season it'll be THAT much better but why do that. anyways, this is needless ranting but if there was a low point in this season, its this. gonna try to sleep it off, I dont even have an ounce of alcohol in me and i'm already feeling this low
Been going to Jets games since the late 70s. Don't know why I still do, I just do. Stockholm syndrome I gues.
You only got into being a Jets fan a few years ago and you think it's bad??? WOW!!!! I mean this sincerely.......if your heart isn't fully into it, find another team ASAP. It doesn't get better.
True fans don't "come back" they never leave. It's not like this is anything new.. being a jets fan has always been hard.
It sounds like this has really been a rough patch for you, being a Jet fan as long as you have. You have my sympathy. _
I've loved the Jets since high school 33 years ago. I've had the great joy of watching my beloved Yankees win it all. I really, really want to see the Jets win it all. During those dark days when the Bombers were bad, my mum always said "Someday they will have their day in the sun". I'm hoping this is true of my beloved Jets too.
Pretty much. I've invested so much time and emotion into it that they could go 0-16 every year and I'd still hold out hope for the next season.
Being a Jets fan is like being married to an alcoholic. You know that all of the problems they have are self inflicted. You keep waiting for them to change, you beg them to change, you threaten to leave them if they don't but you never do. You love who you love, even after they keep breaking your heart.
Born into it. I was brought up in the 90s. I'm 23. I've never given up the hope... But then I'm always brought down by this team. Battered wife syndrome. Stockholm Syndrome. I'm grumpy. I'm stupid. I'm psychotic. I don't know...,..
because I like football, and the jets are my favorite football team. Until I lose interest in the game thats just the way its gonna be, its interesting, its something to follow, and theres really no other team I've invested so much in that I'd switch. Plus, that day things go right will be fucking awesome. Its just a game, have fun with it, and if you're not, well whatever, theres more to life.
I kinda feel bad for some of the guys here who have been Jets fans since the 60s or 70s, that's a long time to go without a single championship, but for most of us, it's not that bad. I've been a Jets fan since like early-mid 90s, and during that time, they were mostly competitive. There were a couple of stinker seasons here and there, like any team, but we ve been to the AFC Championship games 3 times in the last 20 years, made playoffs other seasons, and most seasons have at least had a shot at the playoffs. I personally prefer to root for a team like the Jets instead of a team like the Yankees.
Even with all the pathetic play over the 18 or so years I've been a fan, I love this franchise. They piss me off, but they're my team. I'll never ever stop rooting for them no matter the crap they insist on pulling. I look forward to the day they hoist that Lombardi trophy. It's only a matter of time. Go Jets, Mets, Knicks, and Rangers! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This year? Because they are still entertaining to watch. They are going out and playing as hard, and keeping nearly every game close, they just don't have enough talent to win this year. It's not like 2012 where they looked like a bunch of quitters, and were an infighting circus. I stopped watching that team towards the end of that year. This one is atleast fun to watch, they just keep coming up short.
