I feel like this Thursday can be a huge momentum swinger... if we win our season can turn around... if we lose... 1-9 into the bye is a real possibility
I am not dumb, but the Jets ARE 1-5; and we are not making the playoffs. In the history of the Super Bowl era, only one team opened the season 1-5 and made the playoffs. Can we stop pretending now? My logic is this: forget about what everyone else is doing and maybe if we could field a team that opens 4-2 or 5-3, we could stop looking at other combinations that keeps everyone in some sense of false hope.
I definitely agree with you, but there are a few reasons to be a bit more optimistic ASSUMING the Jets turn it around and start a winning streak. 1. We've only lost 2 games to AFC teams. Both of those teams will go to the playoffs regardless, so in terms of tiebreakers we've essentially lost 0 critical games. 2. Pats are inconsistent. I wouldn't be surprised if they went 10-6 or 9-7 this year, despite looking good in the last 2 weeks. 3. The rest of our division is also inconsistent. That said, we're not going to the playoffs 99 out of 100 times that you play the rest of this season through.
well said, but I have been a Jets fan since 1967, so perhaps you can pardon me for passing on optimistic.
Wasn't calling you dumb bro, my bad if it came off that way, but we all know what other teams in your division is doing always matters. I also don't think we will be making the playoffs either. But while everyone is screaming tank this tank that i would still like to see a competitive fight til the season is over. I want to see what kinda team this team can be going into the future. If we win these next 2 we'll be 3-5... 3rd in the division going into the easier half of the schedule as the rest of the division gets ready for a rocky road. That's just something to keep an eye on. Im sure our offense will hold us back from doing anything special but you never know man. Last game vs denver i seen progression from the whole team, offense and defense. Patriots and Bills dont have top 5 players at multiple positions like the Broncs do, and the bills have Orton were gonna eat him alive. We could definitely turn this into a 6-10 maybe even 7-9 if we beat the teams we were supposed to beat til its over.
So we end up with a mid round pick again... hey I'm all for a playoff run maybe slip in at 9-7 or a complete tank... but hoping for a 6-10 season is kind of useless
I agree with that. I don't want to see a 2-14 season and people putting bags over their heads. LOL - I was actually a season ticket holder in Shea the year (1980) fans were doing that! 7-9 could be realistic, as long as the team does not turn the locker room light s out before season's end.
I'd rather know my team has a promising future than tank and lose rex, were gonna have so much cap money this year, as we did last year when everybody was being picky about players and how much we give them. this time we can outbid who we want for who we want and it's an obvious upgrade over our trash roster. I say resign wilk, sign two guards one being the best one on the market and the other being a proven vet, a solid starting WR, and decent CB (milliner and mcdougle will be back). Draft depth depth depth!!! I wouldn't be mad at a high pick being spent on a MLB to replace Harris if there is one.
If you guys watch the promo its all patriots because the JETS dont have a single highlight worth showing. Sad.
I hate to say it, but I completely agree. The Jets desperately need a QB, and one of Mariota/Cook/Mannion is going to be playing for the Jets, next year, like it or not. Whether it's an early 1st, or early 2nd, the Geno Smith era has to end after this year.
Another Thursday Night Blowout. The good thing is if this continues maybe they will get rid of Thursday night games.
Bovada parlay odds for division, afc championship and superbowl win of a sub 100 bet would win over 400 million dollars.
If you want to respond to my posts and have a good discussion, you need to read my posts more closely. I specifically said I do not believe in moral victories. The question was whether the team that played Denver will show up, or the one that played SD - if you did not think the Jets played better against Denver than San Diego, you don't understand the game of football.
BB: They did play better in the Denver game. But when your are 1-5, a close victory does not seem any more attractive then a blowout loss. My frustration is with the team, not your post. For that I certainly apologize.
A nice article.... http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story...-patriots-uniform-rex-ryan-new-york-jets-sick If you're a Patriots fans!!!
Asked how he’d react if sent out with the offense in a real red-zone scenario against any team, Revis at first chuckled. But he was warm to the idea. “I mean, I’m very confident in catching balls. I know that. We’ve got some great receivers on this team. Usually when something happens like that, it’s the depth chart, maybe injuries. Knock on wood, I hope we don’t get to that point,” Revis said. “But if there was an opportunity, if Bill came to me and said we need help, I’m willing to do whatever coach says. And that’s any position. That’s just what it is. We get asked to do some crazy things sometimes. Whatever coach needs me to play, I’ll be up for the challenge.” Only, this wouldn’t be so crazy. Revis was a wide receiver in high school and had the option of playing either cornerback or receiver at the University of Pittsburgh. So the notion of him making the switch during a rare instance isn’t as outlandish as it might seem.
http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/...triots/2014/10/a_dream_job_for_darrelle_revis
http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/...triots/2014/10/a_dream_job_for_darrelle_revis
Revis will probably demand top WR money in the offseason if he catches a TD thursday.
Who do people want to see start opposite Decker? I actually think the Salas loss is bigger than most think - dude was good for a big play a game ( yes the drop last week sucked but still). Nelson just doesn't make plays. I'd like Powell or Graham to get a shot. If Revis shuts down Decker, whoever plays there will be key
