if he watched tape of our o-line no way he wants to come in here and become the scapegoat of a disfunctional team, only if idzik spends (on him as well) and rex is gone he might consider coming here
Way too early to know who will be available and who won't but I wouldn't be surprised to see us in the running for Hoyer or Bradford if they become FA's.
I hope the Jets are smart enough under Idzik to put serious effort into signing a veteran QB who can play for them. I just have a feeling the Jets are going to look to the draft for the next guy and just throw him out there like they always do. Nothing wrong with taking a QB, but we should have a vet on this roster who can play.
based on recent experience if there is a good, proven, dependable veteran QB presence available you can be 100% certain the Jets wont even look at them. why the hell we didn't take Alex Smith when he was available I have no idea. dumb, dumb, dumb.
Hoyer has never sucked. He was 3-0 when he got hurt last year. McCown has been bad to mediocre over most of his career except for last year.
we had to trade for him, and we were in no condition to be trading away picks last year, we were not one man away from contending. not like he was a free agent or something.
he went for a second round pick - I would trade a second round pick for a solid starting QB in a heartbeat - we spent second round picks on Clemmons and Smith!!
TWO second round picks, and we had to BEAT that, so even more than THAT. I like A.Smith, but… that wasn't the right move- at the time.
Hoyer has a great O-line. The Jets do not. Let's see how he does with Mack out for the season. He doesn't have many weapons that's for sure
ah yes, thats another point. despite having a series of average weapons at best besides the above average TE Cameron, he also has a committed and well stocked O-line going for him. we're gonna need us one of those regardless, but yeah thats about all one could use to discredit his stint in cleveland, besides the shortness of it. Otherwise he's been doing fine with surprisingly little, not like McCown at all.
How about Ryan Mallett? The kid had character issues coming out, but he's sat behind Brady for a while. He could be better than Hoyer. He won't be pricey either. He's never gotten a shot.
Austin Davis would be a good pickup this offseason. Playing better then Geno right now..hopefully we could still find a better qb then both tho.
Hoyer is getting playing time so I think I would prioritize him first but I also like Mallet if we can't get Hoyer.
I'm all for Hoyer (or a similar QB) on the condition what the draft is all offence and we also get a FA wide reciever.
we didn't have to beat it if we had got in first - and even at 2 picks (and second and a conditional) it would have been a great move for us - certainly we would be in a damned sight better position than where we are now
I'd be happy if we went into next season with Geno/DraftPick/Hoyer or Mallet. From there, have a legitimate competition to see who the best is.
They might have to unless they trade Manziel, how can they justify wasting a first round pic ?They are gonna have to make a choice and I think it will be Manziel
