Here's what really irks me about letting Sanchez go:

He had 2 good seasons (team-wise) where he took us to the AFC Champsionship Game each year. He put up points in the must-win @ Indy in Week 16 (I know they pulled Peyton, but we still scored points). Then we whalloped Ciny in Week 17, beat them a week later, beat SD (14-2) in SD, and lost a good game @INDY 39

Next year, we get off to a 9-2 start....finish 11-5....have a bunch of come-back games in OT and in 4th Quarter that Mark engineered (anybody got his career or 2010 4th Quarter QB Rating solo ?).....again go to AFC CG all on road. Mark is #2 or #3 in all-time playoff QB rating at this time.

Next year, we replace 3 of the top 4 receivers...have 3 malcontents (Burress, Mason, Holmes) to throw to....we get to 8-5 before the meltdown....are #2 in Red Zone efficiency....not a step-up year for Mark, but not a year you can say he moved backwards. More like sideways-to-up.

2012....we now know he was hurt....no zip on the ball....Sparano as OC was like hiring Kotite as HC......Tebow circus in NY (hasn't been seen since)....terrible year.

    2013.....wins QB job, hurt.....released.

So basically: 1 bad year (w/injury) and we dump him.

Alex Smith and Phil Simms both stunk in Years 5 and through 5 years of play. We gave Mark only 4.

Should not have dumped him for Geno. You want to bring in a top-flight backup, no argument. But Geno for Mark was asinine.

Reminds me of folks who wanted Matt Robinson over Richard Todd.

Well since you asked for 2010 splits.

In December 1 TD, 5 interceptions in 4 games. Rating 58.6.
In games where the final score was within +/- 7 points 8 TD's, 7 Interceptions- rating 75.6
4th Quarter with the game within 7 points 45% completion rate, 2 TD 3 Interceptions rating 56.3
Last 8 games of the season 7 TD, 8 Interceptions 56% completion rate Rating 71.2
4th Quarter regardless of the score 2TD 4 Interceptions, 46.2% completion rate.
    3rd down 6 TD 5 interceptions, 46.3% completion, rating 64.8

I could go on but his 4th quarters, his December, and hi performance in close games and the 2nd half of the season were abysmal...

again just blind #s. Not all 4th qtrs. are the same.

December featured 2 of the ugliest games of the season- at NE and vs. Miami where 4 of his 5 INTs came, he also had an easy dropped TD by Holmes or the Miami game changes and the #s change. His #s weren't great but he was in our biggest game of the reg season at Pittsburgh.

4th qtrs. where games were w/in reach during the year.

Baltimore- Trailing by 4, 4-10, 33 yds, led O to FG. lost by 1, failed.
vs. NE- led by 7, 3-5, 17 yds, TD. we win 28-14. success
at Mia- led by 1, 2-8, 29 yds, led O to 10 pts and win. #s don't look great but immediately after Mia puleld w/in 1 he led us on 80 yd TD drive to give us 8 pt lead. success
Min- 15-7 lead entering 4th, Minny got it to 15-13. 6-9, 50 yds, led O to 7 pts. success
at Den- trailed by 7 entering 4th. 5-10, 50 yds, led O to 14 pts and the win. what isn't noted in stats was huge 4th down play where he bought time w/ his legs and threw a deep ball to Holmes who was interfered w/ or he would have caught making #s look much better. thgat play set up GW TD. success
at Det- trailed by 3 entering 4tg, trailed by 10 w. 4 mins left. 4th/OT: 9-16, 131, led us to 13 pts and the win on the road. success
at Cle- led 17-13 entering 4th. D blew late lead to send game to OT. 4th/OT: 14-21, 170 yds, led O to 10 pts including GW TD in OT, had 1 INT which ended up like great punt and set up GW possession. success
vs. Hou- led 23-7 entering 4th, "elite" D blew another late lead. trailed 27-23 in final min w/ 0 TOs. 6-11, 101 yds, 1 TD(GW), 1 INT. one of greatest GW drives in NYJ history. success
Mia- trailed 10-3 entering 4th. 6-16 90 yds, led O to FG. failed.
at Pit: tied 17-17 entering 4th. 5-9, 44 yds, led O to FG and 22-17 win. success
at Chi- trailed 38-31 entering 4th. 5-11 38 yds, INT. failed
at Ind(playoffs)- trailed 10-7 entering 4th. 5-7, 58 yds, led O to 10 pts including GW drive in final minute. success
at NE(playoffs)- led 14-11 entering 4th. 3-3, 58 yds, TD led O to 14 pts including the drive that really won it after NR pulled w/in 3 when he led us right down the field to extend lead back to double digits. success
    at Pitt(playoffs)- trailed 24-10 entering 4th. 10-13, 91 yds, TD. lost 24-19 b/c D couldn't get O one last possession. Not a success but he didn't fail either.

And by the Way Junc, a poster ASKED what his 4th quarter were, I provided.

As for the excuse of 2 of his worst games in december....that's half the games of December.

he played really well in big spots that year, one of the main reasons we made it back to the playoffs. #s tell part of the story.

Foles has been playing in pain all year, he's pretty tough. They have confidence in Mark and I think ultimately Mark will be leading this team before the end of the year and will lead them deep into January.

You mean in a madden football league I presume.

you do realize you completely contradict yourself when you say they have full confidence in Mark immediately after saying Foles has been far less than 100% this season.

Junc Junc Junc, talk about cherry picking. Point by point.
Baltimore....he "led the offense to a total of 9 points.
VS MIA 80 yard drive...you do realize he completed 2 of 6 passes for a total of 29 yards....the other 51 yards were all on the ground.....AND he got bailed out on a defense pass interference call that kept that drive alive on a third down incompletion.

VS Minnesota....2 completions...but of the 40 of the yards came off of rushes by LT and Greene, capped off by a 23 yard run by Greene.

VS Denver, really? Your going to give credit to Sanchez for a 46 yard pass interference on 4th and 6, really?

VS Cleveland, trying to lay a cleveland steamer on the Defense are you? Blew a late lead? They gave up 10 points combined 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters....SEVEN...
And don't forget that game doesnt go to overtime if Sanchez doesn't choke and throw a pick or moves the ball better when the defense gets a fumble from Cleveland Meanwhile Chockchez leads the offense for zero points after the 2nd quarter...until it's almosts too late. AND throws a pick in overtime that damn near cost the team the win...

    C'mon man....
all excuses.....My prediction, Sanchez doesn't throw a pass this season unless it's in a strictly mop up role and he'll be handing the ball off...which he'd do well at.....after all when the Jets were successful they do the same thing the Eagles do...run first.

Oh and yeah, it was Schottenheimers fault Sanchez couldnt' pass.....Say hello Austin Davis, 67.8% completion rate, twice as many TD's as picks....over 1100 yards.....not bad for a first round pick playing under Schottenheimer...oh wait, Davis was a UDFA and cut twice.
Sanchez "Could have been a starter"......and throwing picks.

Foles is the starter and they are winning, they aren't going to take him b/c he isn't 100% just like we didn't take Mark out when he was playing in pain.

did I say he played well vs. Baltimore?

at Mia: so what? he led us down the field for the TD. I guess it would have been better had we not scored? so the 20 yd pass on 3r and 10 wasn't good enough for you? so if they don't interfere w/ Braylon he has a TD catch, right? then e impresses the average fan w/ better #s.

at Den: absolutely, he created that play by buying time scrambling and giving his receiver a chance to catch the ball which he almost did despite a defender twisting his helmet as he was trying to catch it.

at Cle: The offense dominated TOP holding the ball for nearly 40 mins of the game. e had the ball 11 mins of the 4th qtr ad gave the D a TD lead against a rookie Colt McCoy and they blew it. You do remember Folk missed 3 FGs, right? one of which was a 24 yarder. the pick in OT set up the GW TD.

excuses? yep, you are using excuses to try to bash him rater than looking at the reality of the situations.

Brian was a good OC, something I said then and I continue to say now but I couldn't care less about comp %, how many of those games are the Rams winning w/ those meaningless #s? Is Davis making plays to win games? that is what matters.

Mark's career took a turn for the worse when Brian was the scapegoat in 2011. Brian was a good OC for us and Mark was developing quite well under him.

    Amen.

Jet trivia: who was the Jet receiver wide open at the 20 yard line on the 'great punt' pick in Cleveland?

this is where you guys get crazy, I am not applauding him for the INT but rather stating a fact it turned out to be like a great punt pinning Cle inside their 5 which set up our GW TD. If the K makes one more kick(he missed 3) we win, if the D doesn't allow the immortal Colt McCoy to lead a game tying TD drive in the final minutes we win and the OT isn't needed but it was Mark's fault like it always was.

I am stumped. I only remember being excited about how great of a punt/interception that was. I didn't bother thinking about any possible completion, small matters, after such a heads' up play.

Wins are, and always will be, a team stat. A QB in and of himself does not win any games...they can lose games for you, but no QB in NFL history has ever won a game for a team all by himself.
What a QB can do is improve his teams chances of winning, or losing. In Mark's case the more he handed the ball off then the more likely the Jets were to win the game. The more he put the ball in to the air the more things went sour. He was a horrible screen passer, a horrible short passer. His accuracy was atrocious and often when he did complete a pass it was in a way that forced a player to dive, leap, or go backwards and thus negating yardage after the catch...a good QB gives his receivers a chance to do something with the ball after the catch.

And while numbers are "meaningless" to a degree, three are not. TD's, Interceptions, and completion percentage. Completion percentage means you are efficient, plain and simple. In todays game there is no reason to be below 60%. This is the NFL where one play can be the difference between winning and losing, on completion is the difference between 3 and out and an 11 play TD drive.

And numbers are only fantasy numbers when taken in the context of a single game. I can buy that argument....But when taken over a season, and then over multiple seasons, and the consistency is there...well....But if Mark was such a big game QB then he should have won at least 1 AFC championship, right? I mean he's the stud that wins or loses games in your eyes, right? Mark is at best Trent Dilfer, if he winds up on the right team at the right time he MIGHT get them to a superbowl if the team can run the ball well. But Mark will never be a QB who can pick up a team and carry that team on his shoulders and make the players around him better.....He's a JAG.

Your a funny man Junc, at Miami...you assume the catch, you can never assume a catch. Braylon did have a history of dropping balls you know. And there you go with the average fan innuendo again, always trying to degrade others by calling them an average fan...Junc, you are just an average fanboi. You will blame everyone and everything other than your boi....you are to Sanchez what Skip Bayless is to Tebow.

Denver, again you assume a catch, it is pass interference, plain and simple....the play was pass interference, the result was pass interference. Lots of QB's scramble and create plays that heave the ball down the field that result in something...pass interference, incompletion, interception, completion, etc. happens all the time....nothing special about heaving the ball in to the area of a receiver and getting a pass interference call...and btw pass interference is more about the receiver than it is about the QB.....

Cleveland the offense domininated possession because they were running the ball...on plays called by schotty, not by sanchez...hand the ball off run the ball. Yeah, Folk missed 3 FG's....so? If Sanchez were 1/3 of the QB you claim he was then at least one of those should have been a TD....And now you're crediting a Mark sanchez interception in OT for setting up the Jets game winning TD? rofl....dude put down the mushrooms...

I'm done with the fanboi....all future comments and remarks from Junc regarding Sanchez will be ignored. But I'll give him one piece of advice....stop calling others average fans while insinuating you're better...your not, your just another fanboi.

wins are all that matter. SL has a talented team w/ a very good defense. meaningless fantasy #s do not impress me at all.

The pass game carried the O in 2010, in 2009 we relied on the run game a little more though the run game was overrated.
if his D came to play in either title game like Eli Manning's D's he'd have at least 1 AFC title.

oh so we assume it would have been incomplete b/c that bashes Mark. even if it was incomplete we take the lead right back, right?

Braylon's drops were vastly overrated, he had a few highlight ones in 2009, I am not sure he dropped a ball the entire 2010 season.

I deal min reality, I don't just blame others b/c I don't understand the game.

Holmes had the ball in both hands while his head was being turned around so yeah I assume the catch.

who cares who was calling the plays? Mark had almost 300 yds passing so they must have been throwing to. They were moving the chains and controlling the clock, keeping the D fresh to blow yet another game late.

oh so it was Mark's fault Folk missed 3 FGs. Reading would help, I am not saying it was a great play just that the way it turned out the INT was like a great punt. if the D and/or STs come to play we don't need OT.

Please ignore me, it only hurts you and your lack of knowledge of the sport.
