The Jets almost always play the Patriots tough. I didn't see their game with Denver yesterday but it looked like they kept it close until the end. I expect a competitive game.

The question IMO is whether or not NY's secondary can hold up long enough for your front seven to get to Brady. I don't think the Patriots will run the ball a lot... they just lost Ridley and, looking at the Jets' D, that seems like a foolish game plan. A few years back they played Minnesota (at the height of the Vikings' run defense dominance) and threw the ball something like 60 times.

I think you'll see Brady spread out the field and throw it unless the Jets play a lot of lighter sub-packages.

Defensively, they'll try to put the game in Geno's hands. Keep the gains to a minimum and make him put long drives together. I don't think Revis will play Decker exclusively in this one. Especially not if Browner is back.

Should be a close one... they almost always are with you guys.

"....this past game was the most bias one sided reffed game I have seen in my 28 years of watching the game"

    Patriots - 9 penalties (60 yards)
    Bills - 8 penalties (107 yards)

Really? That's the worst you've seen in nearly three decades?

The 107 yards includes a totally blatant PI in the end zone that accounted for a huge chunk of that.

If you're complaining about the Unsportsmanlike Conduct call on Hughes early on, my guess is that he said something that he wasn't supposed to say on the field anymore. (And I think they meant to call that on Spikes, not Hughes.) Certain language has been banned.

if we were to win one game out of our terrible stretch, this would be the one. let the pats think they're back, we're desperate and AA needs to shut down gronk. they're high off their last couple wins, lets bring'em down again

Brady against our patch-work secondary? We're going to get torn a new one.

You have a great point. I was talking about this with my father today actually. If Rex goes he will probably recruit most of the guys actually worth while on this team (like Wilkerson). However, I was wondering, of we really want Rex as our head coach? I understand his value to us and our defense is tremendous. But is it time for an offensive minded head coach? Then maybe will we be able to get the right QB and offense? Its tough. I was hoping for a very high pick for either Cooper (a WR we can really use), Mariota (not really sold on him though), or a near surefire OL (but we can still probably get a quality one in the 2nd).

its actually a fudge, of a botch job, of a make-do, of a temporary holding position, of a patch-work, of a "it'll get you to the garage", of a patch-work of a poor job in the first place!

how? the top players on a team almost never ever leave unless the team wants them to. every year people list the top FAs coming along and every year almost every single one of them stays put

Probably gonna use the same general strategy we used on Manning. Rush 4, flood the middle of the field, dare the Pats to run instead of pass. I think Vereen is a better back than Hillman or whoever else the Broncos had in the game, but the WR for Broncos are better at stretching the field. Gronk is a different beast than Julius but will provide the same match up problems.

This is an important game for Kerley and Amaro. While Revis will cover Decker, and Revis isn't Revis, he can still stick to Decker and create problems. Jets will need to get the running game going more, but the short passes can work. The Pats are going to make the Jets march down the field to score points, basically their defensive strategy against the Jets since Rex got here. Force the QB and offense to go down the whole field without making a mistake to score the 7 points. Jets have to try the same thing against the Pats. This is why drops will be even more brutal than usually. If receivers have space they have to catch it.

Will need plays from the special teams, cannot lose the FP battle like we did on the Powell fumble on the PR and then the Quigley poor punt that changed the game.

Defense needs to go for strip sacks , create a fumble or two. You aren't going to shut down Brady all game with out defense, so have to put points on the board.
The Jets RZ offense looked like a NFL offense yesterday so that was nice. Used simple RZ plays all teams use and capitalized. Geno will throw an INT, the Pats always have a very opportunistic secondary and I imagine them playing with a lead some of the game.

    Jets 28 Pats 31.

This game will be decided on who wins the battle between the Jets d-line and the Pats o-line

Assuming Geno doesn't turn the ball over, we are able to run the ball, and can contain the Pats passing game, Jets win 27-14.

Our DLine will get to Brady. They just lost Ridley. And they lost Mayo. We find our running game again. We can win.

jets need to throw to the tight end. it is the pats fuckin kryptonite. they make most decent ones look like superstars. other than the game last year they put talib on graham, the pats have a tough time with it.

the bills run better than the jets and the pats handled them well.

Good post. I always appreciate your take. Why can't this team create any turnovers? It's almost more frustrating than the actual turnovers they commit. It almost defies logic how poorly they are at creating turnovers.

Well the Jets lost two players on Sunday who are out for the season and NEP also lost 2 significant starters in Ridley and Mayo.
