No, and anyone who thinks that is being ridiculous.

Doesn't mean he can't have similar success. Luck was a guy who needed nothing to translate to the NFL level. He was that good.

dude look how the RG3 trade worked out running qbs r scrub city i want a guy who calls blitzpickups , stays in the pocket and throws the ball and scans the whole field while going trough his progressions. You dont take spread/read option qbs in the first round.

Who would you want them to bring in? Flynn? Tarvaris Jackson? Matt Moore?

I think I read somewhere that the last person to grade as high as Luck was probably John Elway which would make Luck a once in 30 years type prospect. I think Mariota compares favorably to Kaep. He's the better passer while not having the arm strength of Kaep. That's good enough for me to take with the #1 overall pick.

I'm fine with us taking an elite WR with our first pick. Next year again is going to be a rebuild/throw away season. people need to get a grasp on reality. id love to get our QB in the draft, but if it needs to wait a year so be it. maybe we go get a QB in trade/FA as well.

Well that's impossible. The age of non running QBs is gone. Every decent to good QB in college runs with the football. This isn't RG3, in my opinion. This is a guy who can move with his feet but doesn't rely on his feet.

He's 6 foot 4 and weighs 220 pounds. In his first year he completed 68% of his passes with over 2500 yards. In his second year, again he completed 64% of his passes and threw for over 3500 yards.

He has incredible arm strength, he holds his ground in the pocket, makes very good decisions, and best of all, he protects the football. He is great at extending plays, which is where his 4.4 speed comes into play. Many are comparing him to the likes of Kaepernick.

I like Mariota and I want him on this team. I'm sick of Geno Smith.

Raiders arent drafting a QB, neither is Jacksonville. So right now its between the Bucs, Titans and Jets if ya want the top QB.

Just posted about the Kaepernick comparison before I read your response.

No. Never said I did. I don't think Teddy or Carr had similar grades as Luck either and I believe we should have jumped on either of them last year.

Luck was a once in a generational prospect. Not saying that he'll live up to being the next Peyton or that Wilson won't win more than him, but from a pure prospect standpoint, Luck is the best in a very very long time.

The Titans are not drafting a QB.

    The Bucs and Rams will.

No, they love Mettenberger down there. They are going to develop him the way a QB should be developed.

They aren't drafting a QB even if they have the number 1 pick.

Thanks for the clarification, saw him on the roster, just have not really followed up on where he stands. What about Austin Davis in St Louis? any word on him? (he is playing tonight, havent honestly seen much of him.)

The bold is true on in terms of not throwing INTs. He does fumble the ball more than one would like when moving around in the pocket or running.

Yup, that's what I was trying to say about Luck--best QB prospect in decades.

And yes, I'll take Mariota in a heartbeat if we have a shot and trade up for him if need be.

He's an interesting guy, great arm, athletic, moves well, clutch. But he's a nobody and if the Rams are sitting there at 1 (and especially if they can get something for Bradford), they'll definitely draft a QB.

In other words, whatever they think they have in Davis, he's not stopping them from drafting a true franchise type guy.

Wish we would have done that.

I think that while Mariota doesn't have the fastball that Kaep has, he has a much tighter, quicker release. Kaep's throwing motion just looks weird to me.
