Yeah, he ONLY had 5 surgeries before the jets drafted him. And McDougle barely played his senior year of college and the jets wasted a 3rd round pick on him. Rex loves CBs who don't make it to the field.
The team will have to draft well and make big splashes in Free Agency to compete for a playoff spot in 2015. The rebuild is taking longer than expected when players don't deliver like Milliner. Unfortunate.
We got lucky to get Adams ? Have you seen him look lost out there... we would be better off with Lankster and he stinks
He does deserve a bonus for that one interception lol... man Stephen Hill left his mark on that D though... they can't catch or scoop to save their lives
Look if it isn't Deion Sanders you guys won't be happy. I'm sure glad that fans like you (or me) aren't running this team. At this time of year you're not going to to get Prime Time or any elite player. You have to sign guys who were cut or who are on practice squads. Compared to most of theses guys Adams is decent. He knows how to play the position and has a resume. I don't think he's been bad at all.
There were 8 guys dropping back yet he still gave up the opening 50 yarder... the touchdown... and Thomas woulda been gone as well if he didn't trip.
I agree with the assessment that the Jets cannot rely on Milliner going forward. He seems generally fragile, and while it is hindsight, those five surgeries in college may have been unrelated to this one, but arguably support that observation of general fragility. So now the Jets need two starting quality db's, and I notice how Wilson gave up that ten yard cushion on Welker yesterday, a key play. Imo the FO would be looking at replacing him next off season if they weren't going to be totally distracted looking to fill two cb starting positions. So let me see, next year add those two cb's to OG, perhaps two Wideout Qb LB, perhaps two Not good.
It stinks because when he is healthy and playing, he has actually looked pretty good. Unfrotunately he was only healthy during the Chargers game. He has a knack for breaking up passes. But like others have said, you cant rely on him. Go into next season expecting Milliner to not be able to contribute. If he is able to play, great. If not, at least you arent relying on him to be good.
The moment I saw his name on the list of available CBs that were cut; I was hoping we scooped him up. I even suggested him last year as depth and/or a cheap veteran replacement for Revis. Idzik deserves kudos on this one. Available cornerbacks after cuts.. Post by: legler82, Aug 30, 2014 in forum: New York Jets My Early Mock Off-Season Post by: legler82, Jan 3, 2013 in forum: Draft
Look it might have been a miscalculation depending on Milliner to be your lead cornerback. You can't predict injuries and there's a ton of good players currently on IR. But although he looks like a very good player he is inexperienced and coming off of a very bumpy road during his rookie season where he was benched. And was getting torched regularly the first half of '13. You might be able to say the same for Qb. Although in this case Idzik did sign a viable backup. Even though he never plays.
ESPN Sports Science is hardly the end all be all when it comes to predicting a prospect's success, but they are highly accurate at measuring pure athleticism. They rank Milliner a hair above Cromartie in pure athleticism.
LOL… I concede that Milliner is a hair more athletic than Cromartie 6 months removed from a left ACL and LCL tear. You got me.
