How exactly are they going to fit Eric Staal's $8.25M cap hit on the team?

And if Miller is so terrible, why would Carolina trade their franchise player in a package with him as the main piece?

And the Rangers don't have a first round pick next year, so how many picks would they have to give up?

How would that work with the cap? I don't think its a requirement that to get Eric Staal you have to keep Marc Staal, but I'm starting to think that unless the Rangers get back a Top 4 LHD in the deal, they can't afford to trade Staal. It would be punting on this season.

What would it cost to get Eric Staal? Maybe Buchnevich, Miller and a 2nd round pick?

Hank might need to play more games this season than he played last season because Talbot has been pretty bad since the end of last season. We can't afford to have automatic losses whenever Talbot is in the lineup.

Thats not getting him. Miller, top-level prospect and draft picks could get him.

That top-level prospect will have to be Duclair, Buchnevich or Skjei, I'm afraid.

Since we have an abundance of wingers, I'd give up Buchnevich in that deal.

So, that makes the trade Buchnevich, Miller and a 2015 2nd.

I think Buchnevich would be the main piece in the deal and Miller would be the secondary piece.

I don't think its going to cost that much for Eric Staal. Its no secret that they are going to trade him, so they have no leverage and he's not helping his trade stock since he's injured. That cap hit is also another bargaining tool for a team that could potentially get him.

I don't know how we'd get under the cap. It would probably start with getting rid of Klein's contract and going with McIlrath in his position. I also think it makes sense to get rid of J. Moore's contract and go with Allen or Skjei next season. That won't get us under the cap. I think it would have to be not resigning Staal, St. Louis, Zuccarello or another big move.

Right now Miller has no value, 10 points In 59 games park his ass on the bench..we were just speculating...Fast is a dime a dozen player, not big, not very fast, gets pushed around, not many o skills he needs to sit too

Maybe Carolina pays some salary? I have no idea but this team can't go into the playoffs without a big #1 center and Staal or Thornton fits that perfectly but i prefer Staal. I wouldn't move Marc at all. I would offer Miller, 2nd rounder and Lindberg. Last year LA beat us with size, we NEED a big scoring center on this team.

I would throw in Buchnevich too, screw it. Staal-Stepan-Brassard-Moore is better than Stepan-Brassard-Miller-Moore. We aren't rebuilding, we are trying to win a cup. Find a way to get some legit top 6 guys in here. Zuccarello can get traded too if we can get an upgrade somehow

I would move Zuccarello in a trade for Eric Staal. Our top 6 RW are Nash and St.Louis, i like Zucc but he has played like shit so far and i think Stempniak will do just fine on the 3rd line. More size and two way play. We can't have a line of Hagelin-Brassard-Zuccarello. It's way too soft. If we want to win a cup, we need more size and scoring down the middle and if trading Zucc can help us get that, i say do it. And i like Zuccarello. Trade Fast too if you need to. Hopefully we get a cup out of it but if not we are screwed for a few seasons but we need to take risks like that, especially with Hank being 32 years old. I wish we can bring in a guy like Edler too or Giordano but thats too much

    Kreider-Staal-St.Louis
    Duclair-Stepan-Nash
    Hagelin-Brassard-Stempniak/Hayes
    Malone-Moore-Glass

Now we're adding Buchnevich to the deal?

Only took 2 games, one of which was a win on the road against a Cup contender, for the fanbase to trade our best prospect for another declining player with a huge contract.

    That is impressive.

You aren't getting Staal for that. Not even close.

Its something that I think Carolina would consider. Zucc's a very good player.

What do they expect to get for Staal? Big contract and he is turning 30. A couple picks and prospects will do it. Throw Zucc in too

Add Zucc to that, and they'll take it but they aren't going to give up Staal for a center who's been shit in the NHL, a projected future 4th line center and a 2nd round pick. In other words, you need more impact players.

Yeah. I don't see why Carolina wouldn't at least think about it. Miller, 2nd rounder, 4th rounder, Lindberg and Zuccarello for Eric Staal and a 5th or 6th. Similar to the Nash deal but a bit more since Eric is a center

Miller is only 21, he still has value to a potential rebuilding team like Carolina. What would you offer for Eric Staal? Maybe next years 1st rounder?

Including Miller in the deal works, but he can't be the best asset in the trade. It needs to include one of our top prospects, a 1st round pick or a good player entering his prime like Zuccarello. Lindberg and a 2nd round pick are really just throw ins.

So add the 2016 1st rounder. Not sure what else we have but we need a legit #1 center if we want a cup

I'd rather just give up Buchnevich. He might turn into a great player, but we have so many wingers. There just isn't going to be room for all of them, so someone's going to have to go.
