I have no problems with the Geno pick. What I do have a problem with is Idzik not getting him good wideouts. Yes I knew we got Decker, but we needed at least 2 wideouts. Don't get me started about our CB problem. When you have as much money under cap as we did your team suppose to get better not worse and that on Idzik.
I don't know of any team who signed more than one big ticket free agent wide receiver the same year. So to me he did an adequate job filling that position this past off season. The Patriots never overpaid wide receivers. When Randy Moss complained about his salary they got rid of him. But now that you see Beckham who it was rumored the Jets wanted to select you wish they would have traded up to get him. He looks like he's going to be great.
Idzik brought in the best FA WR, and then drafted 3 WRs, 2 of them pretty high. Then there was also Stephen Hill, who they wanted to give one last chance to as a high pick. Those picks haven't worked out so far, but again, that's hindsight talking. It would've been a bad idea for us to sign 2 high priced FA WRs this year because none of the available ones were really dominant, so you are just paying a lot of money for decent players but nothing special. It's not worth it, especially when Geno doesn't even seem able to go through a progression. If your QB always throws to the first guy he looks for, having multiple high paid WRs is overkill.
They went for defense with their first pick an area (a Db) we all know they need more depth in and that includes at safety not just cornerback. And with his no. 2 pick he took Amaro a receiving tight end. Plus he drafted a few receivers in the higher rounds. Who didn't work out. You don't always get good receivers in the first round sometimes these 4th round picks like Kerley end up being good players.
People here can't seem to see the forest from the trees here. What a bunch of chicken littles we have here. It really can't be put into 1 or 2 paragraphs why the idea of firing a GM 2 seasons in is so asinine and pathetic that we have to try to convince them otherwise is even more pathetic. The real blame has to go to the players and to the starting QB, directly. If the QB makes the wrong reads and the wrong decisions, everything else follows suit - the entire team and the game goes down the toilet, not to mention the entire season. I was against the Gino drafting, and I still am, but 2 seasons in does not warrant revamping the entire team for that reason. Fking stupid to think that firing everyone is going to solve all the problems.....fking stupid
I never said to fire Idzik, but he is the guy who fielded this team. He should shoulder some of the blame. Our QB has not been great. Our O-line has not been great. Our receivers have not been great. Our secondary has not been great. Our return game has not been. If this is what we have to look forward to, than yes maybe he needs to be fired.
That is all bulsht.....nothing personal man but you have no clue what the real problem is... the reason , as you put it, with all the problems on the O-line, recievers is Gino Smith, plain and simple. If he can't make the right decisons and sits in the backfield with a finger up his butt, that's all the matters. If Gino were to act & play like a starting QB , we wouldn't be micro-managing all the other parts of the team.
Idzik's detractors keep making statements about Idzik that he's forcing Rex to play his draft picks instead of better players. If that's the case then why did he cut so many of his terrible 2014 draft picks.
Yes, and guess who drafted Geno???? In fact, Geno was forced on the Jets by Idzik. A lot of the front office wanted no part of him.
Hey mouthbreather, when you have a top 5 QB of all time you don't need to surround him with pro bowlers.
there is no way we should have traded up for a WR when we have SO many issues on the team in what was reported to be an incredibly deep draft at WR (which we still utterly failed in but that's another story).
How anyone keeps defending this accountant pretending to be a gm is a joke. The guys awful and has given rex nothing to work with.
Are you watching this game. Do you think signing Decker was setting his coach up to fail. The guy is a no. 1 receiver. He's really good.
Decker ok as a marginal no 1 but a very good receiver who on this team should be your go to receiver.
You're right. We should wait another 4-5 years before even thinking about firing anybody. In the meantime, pay no attention to your lying eyes..
