he is rookie he made rookie mistakes. it happens gamble and D hall are goos examples of that. both were lit up during there rookie campaign atleast for hall it was like 5 games after he came back from his hip injury. now look both of these guys are studs
move him to SS... he lost some agility last year was half of his fault.. he was left out on an island most of the time and he isn't a shutdown guy
I'm still on the fence with Barrett. As soon as I'm ready to just say he sucks, he has a stretch of good games. Likewise, he'll just as quickly stink it up for a month. He's starter quality, just needs to be more consistent.
I don't think anyone thinks Barrett is all that great. He is a pretty average starting CB. He's not gonna make or break a team. So therefore, I don't think he is overrated. He is average.
D. Barrett is good cornerback. He is a solid #2, and I want him on this team. His problem is obviously consistency, where he'd get burned one game and then completely shut down his side of the field the next game. Nonetheless he's an asset to the squad. You add in the fact he's a very physical guy and rarely misses a tackle and there's no question he contributes to the defense.
yes I think so. He is good but not great....out of 100 I give him a 79......he's questionable sometimes....
Barrett is inconsistent, but when he comes on it's at the right time (end of the '04 season and playoffs). I'd rather have that than the opposite.
I know Donnie is aggressive but it seems as though he called some awfully soft coverages and never played press. Barrett is big and a rather strong corner. We need to put Barrett on the line and press his receivers, because he gives too much of a cushion. He'd be so much more effective if the receiver didn't have a 15 yard headstart everytime.
I think Miller will be a great CB in years to come, Barret is OK... wont last much longer on the Jets. And for "Requiem" we are set at safety, why would we move a CB to a position hes never played when we have Kerry Rhodes & Eric Coleman?
That is very true as well. It was frustrating seeing Henderson all fired up and agressive with the linebackers, calling blitzes and stuff... and then make the CBs useless and have them play the 15 yard cushion.
Barrett is a solid CB. He's not a pro-bowler by any means, but he gets the job done. As for more youth in the seconday, this is the starting lineup as of now: Rhodes - 1 year exp Miller - 1/2 year exp Coleman - 2 years exp Barrett - 7 years (?) Dude, all they HAVE is youth. I don't think a lot of you guys understand the need to have veterans on a team. Without experienced vets, a team stands no chance now OR in the future. You need to have a blend of youth, players in their prime, and experienced vets, even if they are a year or so past their prime.
I think Barrett is a capable CB, not great, but capable. Yes, he gave up yards, but that may have had more to do with the schemes. Also, you have to remember, the CB position has changed recently thanks to the "Ty Law" rule. It's a much harder position to play now, and all of the experts predicted that guys were going to have a tough time adjusting to the new rule. I'll give him another year to prove himself. We have bigger problems to worry about anyway. I think Miller will be fine also. He improved all year long last season, even with Law distracting him during team meetings.
It is arguuable whether or not Barrett is a an average or below average number 2 CB but he is still a big upgrade over Beasley and D. Abraham.
