we signed Boyle to run the PP. Part of the reason why LA beat us was because we couldn't score a PP goal. Boyle is better for the PP than Stralman was. What makes you say Boyle isn't the same player? He had 12 goals last year and was one of San Joses biggest minute eaters
And yet, their PP was worse than ours last year. He also received very sheltered Ozone starts because he's a below average player in the Dzone and Nzone at this point in his career.
That's basically what Rangers fans have been trying to do since July 1. But he's still better than whatever we're going to see for the next 6 weeks. Unless McIlrath is finally ready, or Allen pulls his head out of his ass after a bad camp.
I like Glass in the lineup. He's not a good player, but the game tonight showed why you need someone like Glass in the lineup. He's needed to keep our best players from having to protect themselves. We didn't need Girardi fighting the Blues goon after what happened with that Stastny hit. Glass kept the Blues goon from starting anything, and thats what was needed. These types of things come up nearly every game, and a player like Glass is needed to protect our best players. He's not a true goon who just looks to get into boxing matches every game, but he's going to protect his teammates from goons and he's going to deliver big hits to the other team's best players. His contributions besides that are secondary. I don't like the idea of having an actual goon in the lineup every game, but you will need a player or two like Glass.
Its not a disaster. The top pair is still intact. Klein moves up to the second pair to play with Staal, and you really are not losing much because Klein is a very good defensive defenseman. The third pair is the one that I think is close to being a disaster.
I agree, Klein played well and tough last night and always was a 2nd pair dman, might want a rhd for 3rd pair, so Mcilrath...quality win, Kreids- MSL- Nash line was flying, Duclair played well even though Miller was horrible....like how Glass face washed Backus when he tried to get at Girardi
Miller and Brass have to improve on faceoffs, Dom Moore can't do it all himself, MSL will get better at them
PK and was on the Ice in the last minute of a 1 goal game in a very tough road game, huge step up from Dorsett
Suggested Glass on the 4th line as protection. After Girardi's hit, Glass stuck his nose in the following scrum which helped to keep a lid on things. With Boyle out (and Harwick a lefty shot) does Kostka get called up? Fast played with a bruised wrist in the 3rd, wonder if he's a scratch on Saturday. Speaking of Saturday, Hayes is potentially available if his shoulder's up to it. Nash: was that Espo in the high slot last night? Nice game! Kreider: if only the NYJ had such a powerfully fast home run hitter. What a physical machine this kid looks like he's turning into. Hank 2 big stops late. John Moore: yes, his man got the Blues on the scoreboard and he's still a work in progress defensively, but man oh man can that young s.o.b. skate! There was one play where he wheeled around from his position along the right boards, took two sweeping strides and was--in a flash--recovering a loose puck along the left boards - what jets. Hope that Sather will think about his 2-time RFA getting signed beyond 1-year come next spring. Good game, good pace. Holes (St. Louis having to taking draws, etc.), but still, these guys buzzing around the ice last nice were a treat to watch. LG 'gers.
Kreids primed to be an elite power forward, superfast, super strong, seems to get a breakaway every game, forced Pietrangelo to hasten his clearing pass which lead to winning goal besides his goal and assist
so duke is making over $700K salary at the NHL level, that's $17,000+ per game. For a teenager who's never had a full time job that's one hell of an incentive to keep playing games lol I hope AV gives him some time on the top two. He could have had a goal last night but his stick failed him
That might actually be a great idea. Would love to see the kid skate with some talent because he showed some minor moments. He just has that it factor when he gets the puck. Hey...friggin St Louis is a very very good team. That was impressive....it showed the cup run and what it can do to build a team mentally..and their reputation in the league. The Rangers were never known to be the counter team..the team that has the lead..you tie them..and then they break your heart. We are used to the opposite. Giving up late goals. That was a really good win. Ups and downs are coming...but the run last year will pay dividends in the end.
I was thinking to myself several times last night how the Rangers are still getting the shaft from the refs and getting no respect, but to be fair I did see the Blues get shafted pretty badly too so it was an equal opportunity failure on the officials. We'll see how that goes in Montreal, I'll be at that game on the 25th in my Rangers jersey
