All the Jets need at receiver is another play-maker. We don't need 2 extra receivers (well if Kerley leaves via FA).

    1a - Decker
    1b - Cooper
    Slot - Kerley
    TE - Amaro

That's as solid as solid comes. Of course it requires having a QB that can make reads and survey the field.

I still think we bring in a big time WR as Cooper is hit or miss just as every other draft pick... not to mention he would be cheap and we go OL in 2 and 3

Or sign a lineman and go DB/OL in 2/3

We need to stop getting rookies in the draft and trade/pick up a veteran QB. Enough chance-taking at QB. Get an experienced one and let Geno or whoever it may be sit and watch behind them. Then if hes mature enough in several years he can take over the spot for a year or two while they transition to the next capable guy.

ima big WVU fan and im about fed up with Geno. Even though he is a wayyyyyyyy different player when he has at least one reliable target. Honestly right now it looks like his college offense was damn near better than his NFL offense and it's showing. Im on the edge of jumping off the Geno train forreal.

Some day someone with moderator abilities will actually pay attention to this forum, someone that actually gives a shit and can distinguish the complete bullshit from the actual posts.

That will be a good day.

Who do you propose we get exactly? Stopgap quarterbacks like Fitzpatrick and such only have limited success especially with a team depleted of weapons and an offensive line that can't protect them.

You don't understand, we build a superstructure on defense, special teams and especially offense, 5 stud lineman, 3 stud WRs--2 tall and fast, 1 small and fast, a troika of stud running backs, TWO Jimmy Graham type TEs.

THEN our franchise QB magically falls to us.

No, you get the QB FIRST then you sit him, build the rest of the offense and THEN you play him.

I don't get the backwards build mentality of some of these dudes.

I'm pretty confident Cooper will be a star at the next level. The dude already runs routes at an NFL level. The separation that dude gets is ridiculous.

Back to the QB issue at hand.

Mariota is too raw to be a franchise QB right this moment, not without any reliable weapons that can win on the outside. Which is currently where we are now. So what's the point of drafting him and throwing him out in the fire? He will be a #1 pick and surely that guy will play his rookie year. Here are Mariota's flaws

    1. Doesn't run an NFL offense [meaning there are no snaps under center]
    2. Doesn't go through progressions [Oregon has been known to be an initial read offense]

I firmly believe in establishing your fundamentals while you are young, especially in college. Really goes for any professional sport in my opinion.

I'm not drafting a QB just because I NEED one, I will draft a QB when I feel that prospect is the right prospect for the team, and the moment is right. It's why teams pass on QBs like a Geno Smith. With the QBs available this draft, it's best to build that foundation so that when a QB comes to the Jets in 2016, it will be an easier transition. Games will be won with a QB like Hackenberg / Cook along with Decker, Cooper and Amaro

For those pointing at Mariota recent numbers, you do realize UO has lost all their lineman. The entire OL is freshman and walkons. He's being sacked 7 times a game. At this rate he won't make it to the draft.
