What completely dishonest or dumbass arguments. It has nothing to do with what he "should" have said it has to do with what he said actually means.

Rex is the coach, it is his job to get the team to play their best football. If they have not it is because he has either done his job poorly or he is simply incapable of getting them to play their best, and he has admitted that.

How the hell do either if you think it is a defense of Rex not doing his job well that he has to give press conferences and say something? Being honest about his failure doesn't excuse the failure he has admitted to and makes criticizing that failure beyond reproach.

You do realize that Rex is not the first coach to ever start 1-4 before right? It can happen. It doesn't mean the coach stinks. Players still have to go out there and execute the game plan.

Except he has admitted that they haven't played their best not that the talent is incapable of playing better. That means he has not done his job. He chose to make that statement.

Ok they haven't played their best. I don't understand whats wrong with saying that though. He's saying they haven't played well. They haven't. Teams don't play well from time to time. Great coaches have had teams not play well for them at times.

If he said something like "We've been saving our best for now" i'd be outraged. If he said "I have not been putting in enough work to get this team better" i'd be outraged. But he's not saying that. He's saying the team hasn't played its best football. I just don't see whats wrong with that statement. I understand the coaches job is to get them to play their best football and thats why Rex and the team are getting killed. Cause they're not playing well, and thats why he's on the hot seat. Whats the problem? He's admitting it.

Makes no sense as this completely contradicts what he had said within the past few days. He said I have no idea what Idzik was thinking as I have never talked to him other than the 1 time I met him. I highly doubt that this is accurate for A) that reason and B) the fact that Idzik doesn't leak anything.

If anything I would think that was being leaked by Rex Ryan.

David Caldwell was reportedly Woody's no. 1 choice to be GM of the Jets last year but he took the Jax job. And the Jags HC is Gus Bradley the former DC of Seattle. Their record with the Jags in their second season is so far 4-16. And 0-5 this season. OK they're rebuilding but not a great showing. So no guarantees Idzik and Quinn or Bevel are going to be successful. Any team that has a five year plan is bound to improve just by getting top picks every year. But what about those five years of losing. Why can't you rebuild and not lose almost all of your games. That's the GM and HC that I want.

You are still caught up on the irrelevant position of what else he could have said. There is nothing wrong with what he said it is a matter of what he said actually means -- that he has either not done his job to get the team playing to their actual ability or that he is incapable of doing so.

The value of a coach is his ability to get the team to play to their best ability and he has admitted not doing so. You can hold out hope that he will develop the ability to do so between now and next week and the end of the season but that is merely speculative on your part and your speculation doesn't dispute the criticism of the facts of what he has not been able to do to this point.

Rex as a HC is what Nacho was as a QB.. initial success because of the team around him but neither is talented enough to be considered seriously in the long term. Rex is a DC not a HC.

Of which you are a part of.

Smart people don't associate with dumb people so you can't separate yourself from that comment.

I don't see how Woody is unpredictable. He's let the GM run the show, they haven't run it well but I haven't seen any sign of Woody trying to play GM. Now if it comes out at some point that he was behind the Teblow signing that changes things but other than that he's stayed out of the way. He said there were no restrictions on spending $$, Idzik has a plan and that plan includes rolling money into next year. The plan sucks for the team this year but we don't yet know how he executes it next year. Regardless the plan and its success or failure is on Idzik, not Woody.

What you might blame Woody for is not making it clear who has what control in the organization when it comes to the role of the HC, OC and GM. Perhaps he has and Idzik isn't making it known to the world so we can't tell who's at fault. What you can blame is the GM for not making it clear to the staff.

I'm not holding out hope for anything. I think we need a new HC. That's my stance. But I just don't see a problem with the comments. Plenty of teams have started 1-4 before. It means the coach and the team are doing a bad job. I don't see what's wrong with him admitting that they've done a bad job so far this year.

    1. I agree
    2. We had cap room this past year but our GM is saving that to tie up all of our young studs? He then likes to barter and ends up with no dbs.
    3. If you were a good HC and looked at Idziks record here...you would be confident you would get the players you need to succeed?
    4. No QB.

If you look at every coach this team has hired since Parcells...its all chance guys. Will Herm be a great coach...Mangini is from BB so maybe? Rex was the Ravens d guy so maybe?

This team needs a proven winner with a set of balls to overcome what a joke this franchise is perceived to be...and that guy would never ever come work with Idziks first 2 years of work. I just don't see it.

Does anyone find it strange that a fat turd who is constantly wrong about pretty much everything would have the lifeline to the front office of a team that wants nothing to do with him?

U R to young to remember that Rex is a exact clone of his dad who was a failure with the Iggles just like RR will be with the NYJs. Just a typical blowhard with zero substance to him IMHO & boy oh boy were the Ravens ever so right in his case:mad:

If it comes out? He's the owner of the team. Of course he had to give the OK to the Tebow signing. So yes, that falls partially on him.

He lets the GM run the show but is he really letting the GM run anything when he forced Rex upon his new incoming GM? That right there is a huge fundamental issue. When you clean house you typically get rid of anyone. It's very uncommon to hire a new GM to build the franchise and then tell him he needs to keep the HC and part of the scouting dept. (Bradway).

Sure you can point the finger at the GM, OC, HC but at the end of the day it always starts at the top. Woody scares the hell out of me because he knows so little about football. As an owner you don't need to know a lot about the sport but you at least have to know how to surround yourself with people who do. This is where Woody concerns me. I don't know if he knows who the top guys are out there and if he's willing to go after them hard.

He's not going to have to spend all that cap room on our young players. A good portion of that money will be used to acquire new talent. JMO but I do think Idzik has a plan. It least I hope so...

We have no QB but plenty of teams don't have QB's. We have to find one or the coaching carousal/ GM carousal will continue to go round and round no matter what.

The idea of getting an assistant coach from Seattle reminds me of how Woody picked Mangini, which was because he thought someone who used to fetch coffee for Belichik had enough rub off on him that he could be a successful HC of the NYJ.

Mangini was not awful, ftr, but my point is that Woody has done this kind of thing before.
