Not sure what to think about McDonagh as the captain. He might still be a little too young for it. Don't like the idea of four alternate captains. There should have been two, and those two should have been Girardi and Staal who were alternate captains with Richards last season. These seem to be the lines that we'll see for the first game. His skating and defensive positioning both looked improved during the preseason. I think he'll take over for Klein after the season as the #3RHD.
The Rangers skate into this season in an unusual position - They have some legitimate trade-bait in both Staal and Talbot with which they can easily address the void they have in the center position. They should be able to get a stud center with that much talent packaged together.
