made the playoffs w/ those guys who BP and Groh couldn't in 1999 and 2000 then retooled and won w/ mostly Bradway guys in 2002 then retooled again and made playoffs again in 2004.
he wasn't bad for us, what was bad was Belichick running away b/c of BP and taking the staff and getting Brady.
Why not include UDFA's in the discussion? You can add Woodhead & Cumberland to Bradway's resume(though that came under Tanny) We should also include Laverneus Coles to pre-Bradway. I included Baxter mainly b/c he was a decent #2 TE. Certainly nothing special. Then again neither was Chris Baker(And I'm an MSU football fan!) Askew did very little as a Jet & was much better w/ Bucs. Ward was a rookie TC cut as was Dreesen. They both caught on w/ other teams. From prior discussions I know you are not high on Rob Moore but personally I'd take him over anybody drafted in 2000's.Health was an issue w/ him & he wasn't a Jet for that long but he was big, strong, fast & at times unstoppable. Biggest problem I have w/ 2000 grouping is the lack of explosion/dynamic play. The Bradway era has preferred these thick rigid "tough" skill players who often lack quality movement(IE Burst, acceleration, change of direction). This leads to no favorable match-ups, no space for the offense to work w/,limited chunk yardage & unexciting play. The lone exception would be Santana Moss who was good not great. Whenever the Bradway era has attempted to address this..they whiff badly & take track athletes or tweeners like Stephen Hill,Joe Mcknight & Jalen Saunders.
and yet 2001-2013(13 seasons) we made 6 postseasons, won a div title and won 6 postseason games. 1990-1999 we made 2 postseasons(one at 8-8) and won 1 postseason game w/ a div title.
I never said Bradway teams didn't have decent success...I said the team lacked dynamic play makers on offense..which frankly prohibited many of those play off teams from further accomplishments
we had playmakers in 2002, none showed up in Oakland though. In 2004 we didn't advance b/c of a K and b/c our QB was playing w/ a torn rotator cuff. Bradway did a good job for us and I assume continues to do so. No, he wasn't Ozzie Newsome but that doesn't mean he sucked. he came here at a crazy time for this franchise.
Junc, are you employed with the Jets? Serious question. You often come off like you have some inside knowledge of things, and you are fairly blindly loyal to all kinds of staff and players about whom the objective consensus is that they just aren't very good.
Considering the Jets could have taken the real deal in the 4th round (De'anthony Thomas) instead of the poor mans De'Anthony Thomas who was taken after BOTH Jets 4th round picks.
Shawn Ellis, John Abraham and Chad Pennington...THREE top 20 picks all came from the Billy B/Keyshawn trades, that was what 'rebuilt' the team. The only good thing I can say about Bradway's draft-days is they were better than Idzik's.
I'm fairly surely he isn't. He's just junc. Likes to argue and bites onto a position like a pit bull. Or a snapping turtle. I've come to respect it over the years, even though I disagree with him a lot. At least he has a grasp of the game. Fucking Big Blocker will do the same thing without actually displaying a fraction of knowledge about what he is watching on Sunday.
You don't get it, do you? The name BRADWAY should have been a red alert sign for you - and somehow you missed it. Be careful with what you wish for. You just might get it. And it's horrifying.
I think there were character issues there...teams seemed to sour on him as the draft moved closer.Idzik stated all pre & post draft that character was a big priority. Than again...I have a funny feeling Mr. Saunders isn't here anymore for character issues as well. There's more to that accident/seizure thing than we know.
There were many examples of better players available when the Jets drafted, can't buy the character argument.
I am loyal in all aspects of my life including my sports teams. You make it sound like I believe every move the Jets make is the greatest move ever and that I expect them to win the SB every year. I criticize the team when they deserve it, I don't go overboard. B/c we lose a game doesn't mean I want a new coach, new GM and a new team. I tend to get in arguments w/ the yahoos who do go overboard so it may seem like I am being blindly loyal but I am just trying to reason w/ folks who are often unreasonable. If people took the time to actually read what I post there would not be any issues. examples: perception on board: I think Herm is a great coach and did a great job reality: Herm was a good coach that did a good job but b/c I backed him in any way the perception was I thought he was the greatest. perception: I think mark Sanchez is great reality: never called mark great one time, never said he would be great but the point about him was we knew we could win big w/ him. Outside of Brady every QB needs big time talent to win but mark had no talent the last couple of years and he regressed. we failed to surround him w/ talent like other teams have done w/ their young QBs. I didn't realize those 3 carried us especially that dude Shawn Ellis, I wonder if he was related to Shaun? what I always found comical when arguing stuff like this back in that time was Parcells got all the credit for inheriting all the talent that he had his lone playoff year with(and he deserves the bulk of the credit) but everyone bashed Herm/Bradway for winning w/ players they inherited. makes no sense especially since they led Jets to playoffs in '01 w/ talent previous coaches couldn't get to playoffs w/ 2 previous years then won div title w/ almost completely new team then made playoffs a 3rd time w/ another revamped team.
It is necessary. Bradway has taken no blame for any of these abysmal rosters. He brings an old perspective on new age players. The whole scouting department needs to go.
Terry Bradway, Mr. Diamond in the Rough. I find it very hard to believe that the guy had much to do with finding prospects like Revis and Richardson. He probably just signed off on them after the CS said they wanted them.
Jets passed on 6-foot-2 WR Donte Moncrief whose athleticism score is in the 97th percentile and his closest comparision is Andre Johnson. A few picks later in the 4th round, Idzik and Bradway decide on 5-8, 165 pound Jalen Sanders whose upside was always as a slot/wr3/PR.
