I'm not a big fan of any of the QBs in this upcoming draft. And the FA market is very thin (Locker and Hoyer are the only decent names) so that leaves us either rolling the dice with another rookie QB or trading a mid rounder for someone who could be on the outs with his current team. Two names that make sense are guys that are starting right now but not setting the world on fire in Glennon and Cousins. Wouldn't trading say a 3rd rounder for one of those guys be better than picking an unknown with a higher pick? Neither of em are guaranteed starting jobs next season. And not saying just hand them the job , but both would be total upgrades.
no thanks..moves like this never work out -kevin kolb - matt cassel - donovan mcnabb - brett favre - matt flynn - carson palmer - josh mcown etc etc etc and the same garbage over and over i really beilieve the best way to this is getting your guy via the draft and coaching him... and this cant be done by rex
This is another one of those drafts (which the Jets always look at to find a franchise QB) where first 3 passers end up falling between average and shit, and there are one or two real surprises at the position in mid to late rounds. Of course, the Jets will draft the second QB taken in the first round and continue the same bullshit we have been subjected to for decades.
All of those guys are career backups though. I don't see the harm in trading for a young guy with talent and upside. Cassel is really the only guy that fits the mold when he was traded for.
Even if we're drafting a QB we should have a capable veteran QB on the roster. I think most rookie QB's would benefit from a red shirt year or three.
According to like half the fan base we've had a solid vet QB all year. All he needed was a chance to get in. I'd love Glennon, but he isnt going anywhere. He's giving Tampa a bit of a jolt, and helping my fantasy team at the same time. Kirk Cousins is a marginal talent, dont think I'd give up a third. I'd take my chances in the draft this year.
To be honest, we're fucked LOL There are no good guys coming out in the draft and the free agent market is filled with backups. IDK what we are gonna do, but we're fucked
The Jets have chosen willingly to be off cycle for a long time. Strong QB draft? Take a safety, corner or defensive lineman. Or hell, check out that undersized receiver that can return kicks. Weak QB draft? Our QB is not the answer, trade up for a guy that has the "it" factor. It's like clockwork.
We're not getting Cousins for a 3rd. Skins would never do it. They have their own QB controversy right now and have no idea what the deal is with RGIII and may need Cousins as an insurance policy. He won't come cheap.
Jets should try to get Matt Barkeley or give Josh Freeman a try but do it next year when Rex is most likely gone
I'm actually pretty afraid that the Browns will compete the whole season and Johnny Football to NY will be all anyone speculates about all offseason
Why? You wanna draft another QB and deal with the same shit? Use those guys as a stopgap until a real franchise QB comes along in the draft. I think they are both better than Geno so thats a plus
