Woody isn't going give up on Izdik so soon..... Rex should be gone (which in reality should have happened when Tanny got the axe) and Izdik will get to choose his coach this off-season..... Having said that, Izdik is the one who will need to open up the check book and get some talent here this off-season......

I think you have to give him another year but somebody in the media should ask him why he didnt at least bring in a few vets on 1 year deals. He signed Babin for cheap, he couldnt find anybody else for a year or two? Browner, Revis, DRC, Cromartie, Flowers. Very surprised Rex didn't push harder for any of these CBs

Idzik has drafted 19 players. He has cut one 4th rounder, one 5th rounder, and 4 6th rounders.

There are 13 drafted players still on this team. Since generally teams have around 7 picks a year, this is a pretty normal number.

5 games just isn't enough to know.

The problem is Woody fucked up when he hired Idzik and didn't fire Rex. Yes we can fire Idzik after this year but that will only sink the franchise even further into the abyss. No respectable candidate is going to take the job knowing that Woody didn't even let him hire his own coach. Idzik is being forced to draft players for a system and a coach he might not even want. What if Idzik and Rex have differing philosophies? That move to not fire Rex when he had the chance could haunt this franchise forever.

Idzick was the best hire on paper, out of the only GMs who would take the job and keep Rex. On paper means nothing when you limit the pool of candidates by limiting thier ability to make changes.

He should be fired. He did a terrible job this offseason. Fire him and Rex and start fresh in the offseason with a new GM/HC combo.

Yeah. Bradway & Co. need to go.

If playing "like a Jet" is squandering 21 point leads and getting blown out by 31, we need to re-evaluate our mantra.

You have to keep the draft picks on the team to be able to judge them two years down the road?
You draft players that were perennially injured in college and that are surprised when they got injured at the next level.
You can't evaluate a receiver to save your life. Deepest WR draft in history and how many of them are still on our team - ZERO?

I think we got a hit in Amaro.

Pryor will be good but was he worth it in the first round with all of our holes. Safety was one of the few positions we had some depth with Landry, Allen, Bush and Jarrett all on the team. And look at the receivers that were picked after Pryor. Hell look at the receivers that were picked in the 3rd round! There was some real good talent out there that we just whiffed on. And don't tell me other teams missed them too because those other teams at least have their 4th round pick on the team.

Agree 100 % Yet I think beside Amaro this year we are worse. Rex will take the fall and we rinse and repeat.

I don't think Pryor will be good. Just my opinion and I very well may be wrong but I haven't been very impressed with him. For every big hit he has he has had just as much trouble in coverage. I also haven't been impressed with the angles he is taking towards the receivers/ ball carriers.. The coverage deficiencies you can learn from in time but the poor angles show a lack of football instincts that alarms me.

I don't believe in hard hitting safeties anyway. I'd much rather have a superior coverage safety with ball skills that hits like a sheep than a guy like Pryor. I think his future is as a situational safety brought in on run downs or to blitz on passing downs. That's not good for a 1st round pick especially when the team that drafted him had glaring needs elsewhere.

He's not looking good this year. Last year's moves were better. He's not likely to be fired. But with Jets, you never know. See: walt michaels, bruce coslet, pete Caroll. And Mangini, by Woody's own hand. Maybe he'll pull a Groh and get out to run a college program. Maybe he'll resign as GM of the NYJs to take an offer with the Patriots

Exactly. Real football people do not want to work with Woody. It all starts with Woody.

I do not have any support for Idzik or Ryan. Both should go.

But why does anyone here think Woody will produce a better team with different people? We all saw Tanny go down in flames, extending Sanchez's contract for no good reason. So Woody fired him, and there was much optimism among Jet fans.

So Woody requires the new GM to accept Ryan staying, indicating an ongoing involvement by him in football decisions. Only problem is when it comes to football Woody makes Jerry Jones look like a genius. Most fans here know more about football than Johnson.

Why do we think Johnson will do any better if Idizk is fired?

"The fish stinks from the head" "Shit rolls down hill"
The problem with this team starts at the top. Woody owes tons of dough on his new palace. The PSL auction was a disaster and he's not gotten even close the amount of $ his bean counters told him he would get and he can't even sell out the upper deck that has no PSL's. The Jets are # 32 in the NFL in the amount of real dollars spent on salary for 2014, not cap spent, because that includes dead money, but actual cash outlay. He knew the Jets would not win the super bowl this year, it was going to be a transition year no matter what. So why not save $20 million this year and spend more down the road when it could make a difference. Problem is he did not count on what has happen. Crappy draft the last 2 years, guys who gave us one good season last year sucking ( Colon, Pace, Nelson), FA and UFA that suck or over the hill (CJ) and horrible coaching from top to bottom. And now, with the possibility of the Jets going 4-12 and being one of the worst teams in the NFL, Woody gambled and lost. End of season he's going to have to fire Rex and get a big name coach to get everyone excited and he will decide who's the next coach, not the GM. And the GM will be in the same position Rex is in. And so it goes.... over and over. The place will be empty next year.
