that didn't look like a top anything defense in the first half. maybe they were holding out for a second half push?
those QBs absolutely torched us. combined carr/rogers/cutler/stafford: 969 yards 9 touchdowns 0 interceptions 101.8 QB rating being 10th is a facade. its mostly due to great run defense and teams getting a short field against us. we havent given any QB trouble so far. rivers is ripping us apart as well
After today, these stats are going to take a HUGE hit!!! San Diego had the 32nd ranked running game and they are running all over us.
Raiders game boosted teh stats a lot, if you drop that raiders game from the defensive stats their yards per game goes to about last in the league...I think 29th if I recall. The raiders game counts, but it makes the Jets stats misleading.
This thread needs to be closed. Anyone who ever thought this pass defense was good needs to have their head examined
I can live with the coverage being as bad as it is, given what we're been forced to put out there ... But the tackling was astonishingly bad today, and that's the part that pisses me off. Nobody wanted to stick their nose in there and wrap anyone up ... And that's 100% on Rex and the defensive staff. A fucking disgrace.
Analysts claimed that Jets shouldn't have a problem scoring on Chargers because they were at the bottom in defense (pass/run). Can we agree that looking stats is overrated? The main stat the good teams pay attention to is Wins and Losses.
The problem is the same thing it's always been under Rex, stats only go so far but they don't show you that most of the time when the D needed a big stop they didn't get it. Yes there certainly are times when they came up but look at the AFC Title game against Pittsburgh, the offense gets us back in the game and when it gets into 3rd down.... fail. They give up 2 TD's in the last 6 1/2 minutes of the half against the Lions. They get torched by Rivers.... for all the emphasis this team and more importantly our head coach places on defense in year 5 we should be dominating teams but we don't and this falls on Rex. How many 1st round picks in 5 years have been on the defense? 6? 7? It's horrific and we wonder why we can't score fucking points.
I argued a good chunk of the off season with FO homers here who said the secondary would be just fine. So we get to see Gates beat both Allen and Wilson for Td's. As I think it was Trent Green noticed, on the TD Gates got on Allen Allen had safety help inside, but he let Rivers through it in front of and to the outside of Gates since Allen was also playing inside. He should have been outside with safety help inside. But of course in fairness to Allen he's not a real Cb.
Some where probably B4 U were born we had a HC who said you are what your record says you are & since that is the only stat which matters & since we are 1-4 with Den & NE on the horizon I would think you would be far concerned with our record then where we stand in O & D
To be fair, Gates got 3 TDs on the Seahawks earlier this season. Allen is not a CB, and I still question why we play Landry as much as we do. Him being a free safety hasn't helped us at all. Milliner had a good game yesterday tho
I dunno about Milliner. He wasn't challenged much. It looked like Rivers was happy to pick on Walls, Allen and Wilson.
On top of that, once SD established the run, there was no need to even look in Milliner's direction. Their run game was gutting us up the middle at will so Rivers being the pro he is, had his choice of either dark or white meat on this turkey.
