2010 was a Sanchez coddle year. I would argue that it was exactly what we needed from him though.

However I think the last year we had good quarterback play for the entire year was 2006.

David Harris against the Packers.....oh wait
It's the bad QB's who have been here who deserve a large majority of the blame in terms of that.

Namath would be the best QB in football with today's rules. Plus, his legs would have been fixed properly after injury in college.

Isn't it the front office's job to find the talent and Rex's job to coach the football team? Rex shouldn't get the blame for hiring Sparano maybe he shouldn't have endorsed it but if we had better input from higher up we never would've had him.
You can blame Tannenbaum for us having no homegrown talent on offense seeing his only offensive picks were Sanchez, Greene, Hill and Powell. He traded picks for veteran receivers that helped at the time but hurt us in the long run.
If we had a competent secondary you'd probably be excited about the defense first mentality because we'd have one of the best Defenses in the league due to drafting our own studs in King Mo, Richardson, Milliner, Coples(not stud but contributor with potential.) Maybe we could've went Cooks or Benjamin over Pryor this past draft but they took the guy they thought had the best chance of becoming a pro bowler down the road and he happened to be a Safety. It's now Idzik's job to find the right talent for Marty's Offense with minimal input from Rex, and I bet Rex would be the first guy to want more on offense seeing the lack of it might cost him his job.

You were drunk when you wrote this, weren't you? Come on, you're better than this.

54.8% completions, 17 TDs, and 13 INTs is not "really good" by any standards.

His post-season stats that year were average.

Sparano was Rex's hand picked guy and that turned into a colossal failure. Rex chose Sparano, not Tannenbaum or anybody else. Sorry, he doesn't get a pass on Sparano or on the offense in general. The man is clueless when it comes to offense. It's the Ryan DNA at work and he just can't help himself.

This defense first mentality only works when your defense actually produces TO's and points and helps the offense. You invest all your high picks on defense and naturally, the offense starts to deteriorate to the point where it is today. Great stats, not enough points, one win. Lets leave the refs out of it for now shall we...

On draft day and they went defense first, my question was "Where are the point going to come from?". You still have to outscore the other team no matter how great your defense is. Decker? Kerley? Not happening so far. The OLine needs a talent infusion badly. The Wr corps? Ditto. Any bets they draft defense in the first round in 2015? The only thing that gonna change is that the draft will be held in Chicago instead of Radio City.

Rex is old school. He's ground and pound 3 downs and a cloud of dust. This new fangled offense stuff is as far beyond Rex as a computer is beyond an abacus. The league has changed but Rex refuses to change with it. He was forced to hire MM I think and if you notice, they both kinda stay off to their respective units. Kinda explains the TO screw up that costs us the game in Green Bay.

My question still remains the same. Where are the points coming from? Our RZ offense is offensive to say the least and our starting Qb is a work in progress. Why is that? The talent on offense has been allowed to deteriorate to a embarrassing level due to an almost criminal neglect. If our offense were a child, Rex would be in jail.

This is the price you pay for being defense centric to a fault. Until that changes, not much else will.

Why did the Jets get rid of Cotchery and Edwards? They werent world beaters but i remember them being important in the championship seasons. Was it money? Also i was very surprised when the Jets didnt try to get Desean Jackson.

when mark sanchez is your quarterback for 4 years thats 4 years you can be gauranteed your wide outs wont have good numbers. that accounts for the majority of it. since 2010 we have had pop warner level talent at WR

The Jets were paying Revis and Sanchez far too much money, failed the gamble on Asomugha and overpaid Cromartie as a result.

They were pinching pennies to try to build a follow up roster and couldn't afford Cotch and Bray.

He had some great moments in 2010...... but definitely not a consistently high level of play.
That was the double edged sword of El Sanchez..... one minute it's "Yeah this kid's got it!", the next is "WTF?!?!"

...and once again, we're in a similar situation......

no he was pretty consistent. he had bad moments no doubt but the pass O was the driving force in winning most games that year.

Totally agree, The Rex style of play is obsolete, This league wants points and QB's to air it out. Ground and bound is dead. Im
sure someone will post stats of a running game and winning. But it has become a passing league. We have none of the above.
