If you were asked how many QBs that have played for the Jets since they entered the AFL, have had a winning record during their time as starter, who would have guessed 7? There have been 34 QBs to start for the Jets and only 7 have had winning records.
Worst yet if you were asked to name five could anyone have gotten it right? Who would have guessed Ray Lucas or Quincy Carter? No, Namath, O'Brien or Esiason isn’t on the list.

Here is the sad list of Jet QBs to win more than they lost. Considering seven of the guys who have started for the Jets over the years had actually played QB in a Superbowl, but once putting on the Jets uniform must have forgot how to play the position.

    PAT RYAN
    1978-1989
    141 games (19 starts), 11-8

    VINNY TESTAVERDE
    1998-2003, 2005
    65 games (61 starts), 35-26

RAY LUCAS (No one could had guessed Ray Lucas had the best winning percentage.)
    1997-2000
    36 games (9 starts), 6-3

    CHAD PENNINGTON
    2000-2007
    69 games (61 starts), 32-29
    QUINCY CARTER
    2004
    7 games (3 starts), 2-1

    BRETT FAVRE
    2008
    16 games (16 starts), 9-7

    MARK SANCHEZ
    2009-2012
    62 games (62 starts), 33-29

Now we have to endure another QB who is no more likely to have a winning record than 26 other losing QBs before him.

    GENO SMITH
    2013-2014
    20 games (20 starts), 9-11

People wonder why I can't root for Smith, and maybe the answer is I'm done rooting for the impossible. I want an accurate pocket QB who can read a defense and that seems just too difficult for this team to draft or for the coaches to teach. So, I will wait until the Owner and GM finally had enough of Rex and hope the next HC is a better teacher and can pick the next hopeful QB.

The Jets broke the number 1 rule when it comes to what kind of QB wins and which ones predominantly lose and don't win except the lone doug Williams.

So, you're saying the Jets shouldn't have drafted a Black Qb?

Wow didn't realize Penny and Sanchez had nearly identical records in the same amount of starts. Who would have thought that considering the amount of love and hate these 2 Jets QBs get from the fanbase respectively.

Russell Wilson is a Black QB. I guess because he talks intelligent and such - he's not put in such a category?

This is a stupid thread to begin with. The history of this organization has nothing to do with the current situation. And Geno smith doesn't have a winning record... So there's not even any connection to the present.

And the first comment is about race. Wow. Both posts are so fucking stupid

I like any QB that can throw the ball accurately and read a defense. One of my all time favorite QBs was Warren Moon. But the running QB is crap and is used by those who lack in traditional QB skills. Legs don't last forever, in the pros. I'm sure Washington is regretting the trade to get RGIII. Newton has become better once he started NOT running so much.

It's easy to fail at drafting if you don't listen to your scouts and your owners a f_ _ king moron.

Let's assume that you are correct in your assertion that Woody Johnson is a "fucking moron." In fact, let's go one step further. Let's assume he is completely brain-dead, perhaps in a coma, if you like. By what possible logic could this fact effect: A) Whether John Idzik listens to his scouts, B) Whether John Idzik's scouts are even worth listening to, or C) Who John Idzik ultimately decides to draft? Just wondering.

So John idzik's the fall guy? He's been here two years. He inherited a team with a lot of problems and I think it is too soon to say
whether he's made them better or worse. Woody Johnson has been year for fourteen years and has absolute authority over the
entire franchise. You think his record for executive decisions in this very public "business" doesn't allow for the occasional insult?

I'm not saying John Idzik is the fall guy. Heck, I think he has gotten a ridiculous amount of criticism, considering how early we are in the Idzik regime. I was just pointing out that I can't see how Woody's competence (or lack there of) has any bearing on who Idzik drafts. The only thing Woody can be blamed for as it pertains to Idzik, is actually hiring Idzik in the first place, if he ends up not having success.

Also, with regards to your question about Woody deserving to be insulted, I tend to think the never-ending, overwhelming ridicule of him is over the top and generally unwarranted. As you pointed out, he has owned the team for 14 years. Over the course of those 14 years, we have made the playoffs 6 times, have won 6 playoff games (5 on the road), and have appeared in two conference championship games. So, despite the widespread, somewhat media driven, contempt for Johnson, we have probably been an above average NFL franchise (at the very worst, average) under his ownership. It seems to me that the highly popular anti-Woody hype is just that . . . hype.
