I will be the biggest opponent of Mariota, and Jamis Winston. Bryce Petty & Connor Cook will be better pros.

Those are bad QB's. Amazing you're comparing Mariota in a read option strictly college offense to a future NFL hall of famer, who came from Cal who ran a pro style offense with multiple reads. That's all from me. I'll say it now. I hate Mariota as a pro, I think he's Vince Young at best, and Jamis Winston; is Jamarcus Russel. Bryce Petty or Connor Cook that's who I want.

Well I'm not a fan of Winston either so we can agree there.

To get this thread back on track, I give Geno 1 half vs. S.D, and then I think they make the move to Vick ( if he does poorly like yesterday). Just like we did with Chad, when Vinny went down against Jacksonville I believe.

I'm actually on board for the next two losses (if that happens). If we lose the next two and beat New England, I will still be engaged. If we lose the next two and lose to New England, that will be where I call for Rex to be fired and agree with all the others that have already jumped ship. It's a sick life being a Jets fan, but it's the one I choose.

If the past two games are any guide, leaving Smith in for a full half will put the game out of reach. And wouldn't Vick benefit from a week of practice with the first team? I don't see the upside of playing a half in SD. If you do that, might as well leave him in for the whole game.

I also have a feeling Ryan does not bench Smith for the Denver game. No matter how bad in SD.

I have seen very little of the Pats this year, and they can improve their play by the time the Jets get to them. But I've heard a few things that if they DON'T fix would make them the easiest opponent of the next three. I also see the scenario of making a change during the bye, but that will not come fast enough.

It's really hard to gauge what is going on since it seems like some political situation is going on here rahter than a pure assessment of football talent as between Vick and Smith.

If he plays poorly against SD, and they name him starter for that Denver game at home, I think I might fly back to jersey and use my season tickets just to boo him. Big Blocker, I like your logic, but if the game is within reach like the Detroit & Chicago game, and he is playing poorly, I think they bring in Vick, if its a total blowout I think they stay with Geno. I don't know of a team that went 1-4 and made the playoffs. At that point I would just let smith play it out, throw simms in or whatever. Even if the Jets go 1-4, and hand the reigns to Vick, they quite possibly can't go 9-2 down the stretch with Vick.

What's really maddening about this entire situation is the loyalty thing. How loyal were the seahawks to Matt Flynn? A guy they paid 7 mil a year to be their guy? No they let the 3rd round pick play and beat him out. They had wayyyy more invested in Flynn than the Jets in Vick. To think our guy from Seattle would have known that.

I understand your point comparing a total blowout with a game still in reach, and it might be the kind of move they might prefer to make on the road.

I don't rule any scenario out, but I just have a sense Ryan is not near done with the foolish loyalty thing.
