I'm thinking maybe a 5th or 4th round pick at most, here some possible candidates: Ruben Randle Tavon Austin Stedman Bailey Harry Douglas Marques Wheaton Jarred Boykin Justin Hunter Cecil Shorts Marvin Jones Andre Roberts
I doubt we invest in 2 FA WR's. I think we'll be signing a CB in the offseason. And getting WR's in the draft.
Interesting that of the people on your list, Tavon Austin, Harry Douglas, Cecil Shorts and Marvin Jones have been injured this season
there are no realistic scenarios. This isn't the mlb where teams become buyers and sellers. Cap ramifications experience within a system and opportunity to go worst to first keep that from happening.
none of these players are possible candidates Ruben Randle - he is the giants #2 wr, with beckham injured no way they would trade him, also is a cheap player for them next year Tavon Austin - no way they send him away after using the #8 pick on him just a year ago Stedman Bailey - same as above they used a 3rd pick on him and make no sense to get rid of him now Harry Douglas - he is atlantas slot receiver and is a good one. there all in this year and need him Marques Wheaton - again, the steelers used a high pick on him and expect him to be a very good player and he is playing good Jarred Boykin - he is there #3 target and i know he is loosing snaps to there rookie wr there not going to dump a player in his 2nd year with potential to grow and is on the cheap for 2 more years Justin Hunter - way to much potential here, no way they send him packing after using a high 2nd on him last year. Cecil Shorts - of all the players this one makes some sense, he is a free agent after this year and the jags are going no place, they might trade him..but he hasnt been healthy Marvin Jones - no shot.. they have a legit #2 player on the hook for 2 more seasons on the cheap Andre Roberts - no shot..was signed this year to a long term deal during FA
Our WR's are fine this year when Decker is healthy. No, we don't have a Megatron, but there's enough talent to score points. And if you think Idzik is trading for a WR at this point you should probably stop sniffing glue.
A better trade option would be trading for a fuckin CB!!!!!!!! I do agree that the WRs are fine for scoring points but they do deserve some blame for this mess on offense. They aren't getting separation. Where was Kerley yesterday? Salas deserves a bigger role because he isn't as soft as Nelson and fights harder to get open than the other guys.
As previously sated these are some "possible" candidates. This ^ is just completely silly, I'm sure no one actually takes this seriously... It is however night and day from Decker being in the lineup to out of the lineup, but this speaks to the level of talent outside of Decker. Sure Kerley is a very good slot WR but he's not our #2 outside option, he's in the slot. Nelson is terrible, why else would a WR starved Buffalo team not try to hold on to him. Salas try as he might just is not anything special in the talent department, though as I said I don't think it's not from want of trying. If you put the heart of Salas in DeSean Jackson you'd have a top 3 WR. Players are traded all the time the cliche "this isn't Madden" or whatever clutch argument isn't really valid. Look at the Trent Richardson trade, albeit not turned out so well you're still talking about a 1st round pick that had a great rookie year traded mid season. Logan Mankins this year, just to name some off the top of my head. If you think the players I presented aren't a possibility then give some of your own, this is all speculative.
I would speculate that our receivers aren't a big problem and that Idzik isn't going to trade for one. Thanks for the thread though.
I see no scenario where we make a trade for anyone. That would be admitting you screwed up in the offseason and I don't see Idzik doing that. I'd rather see more playing time for Salas and weather the storm of whatever this season brings. I mean lets be honest fellas, we're not a #2 WR away from contending .
no pointing wasting draft picks on this season - its already down the toilet and a #2 receiver isn't going to make a shred of difference
What makes them "possible" candidates? Because you looked down teams rosters and picked their 2nd, 3rd or 4th WRs and figured 31 other GMs are Jet fans and can't wait to help us out? _
I can't lie... the braylon edwards trade worked WONDERS for us back in 2009. It might have been the reason we went to the AFC chip. In fact, it was the reason. It balanced our offense out perfectly. Braylon was a home run hitter at the time, he stretched the field like a #1. It especially showed when we got Santonio Holmes. Playaction fake when we are running at will, Braylon going deep down the field (even if the play doesn't go to him the decoy opens up the defense). Whens the last time we had a decoy???? Nobody is taking Decker seriously as field stretching big play making WR, hell he doesn't even demand a double team. These guys aren't getting separation because these defenders KNOW that we can't and won't be even LOOKING for the vertical option down the field on pass plays. Allows them to jam, blitz, and do all kinds zone schemes... its our offense man. Front office has to do something! We need more THREATS to defenses.
sorry but braylon had like 500 receiving yards that year..far from the reason we made the playoffs.. we had the #1 rushing squad that year, mixed with the great o-line, and our #1 ranked defense...oh and the colts pulled peyton manning from the game we needed to win to get in.. other wise no playoffs
