Thats hardly the issue. We were cap strapped until this season.

Idzik should be able to sink or swim with the HC of his choice. Having Moron Rex tied around his neck ain't going to allow him to progress.

Idzik shouldn't get to be able to sabotage Rex either, by giving him CFL corners and forcing him to roll with Geno when he has an NFL QB on the bench.

What else is there to be said but Idzik completely dropped the ball in FA. what everyone else in America saw, he failed to see. How he blew a draft with 12 picks and didn't sign a CB is beyond me. On top of that he signs Vick and it doesn't appear that he'll even play. It's pathetic and sickening. On top of that, when players like Brandon Flowers and Desean Jackson get released he doesn't even make a call. I hope I'm wrong but he just seems so damn bad.

This conspiracy theory that Idzik has some brilliant master plan to force Rex out is foolish. You can try to keep hope alive that after Rex goes...all will be well, but it will be another 3 years or the same thing before the next coach and Idzik are fired. He was a bad choice for a GM.

This x 1000. That is where the real problem lies. We have an owner that is more concerned about appearing in the paper with rap stars than winning football games. I weep for the season ticket holders.

Some Jet fans look at is as being too negative..and that "if you got rid of this guy or that guy, the next guy could be worse".

Lets face it..the Jets have not had a talent guy as GM since Bradway...and nobody is claiming Bradway was a genius. Still. for all of Tannys brilliant moves (Revis), they took him trading up..so you ended up with 4 or 5 picks every year because Tanny loved to trade bottom picks for moving up.

So the AntiTanny comes in and does the complete opposite. He hoards picks. He hoards cap money for that rainy day when we have to sign Wilkerson( christ..Im so tired of hearing that) while the teams that are always good year in and year out manage to keep most of their key players and survive with a 3rd or 4th round pick at lineman.

Idzik gets what every GM in America in any sport would want...a ton of picks to prove his genius..and money to spend. What does he do? He keeps all the picks because like throwing shit on a wall...something has to stick...but not much sticks at all with all the extra picks.

He then shows that he is in it for the long haul and what a genius he is with the cap...that we are rebuilding? and goes out and gets perhaps the best back qb on the market...the best receiver on the market..christ..you guys get the drift...Im repeating myself.

The bottom line is that the jury is telling the judge they might have a verdict...and the verdict is that for 2 straight times, our owner has decided to go the way of cap guy instead of talent guy. Does anyone realize how different those 2 minds are? That being a cap guy in the NFL is really not that hard if your a numbers guy? If your a person that loves numbers, figuring out the cap is easy stuff.

I mean the 2 receiver picks this guy made are turning out to be a joke...as they continue to try to justify them as return specialists.

Jet fans think this team is the laughing stock in the NFL but when it comes down to the owner...the GMS we have had and previous clueless HC's which I would not even put Rex in with, the success this team has had the past decade boggles the mind. For a team that has an owner that would make Daniel Snyder look borderline brilliant, the Jet fans shouldnt look at this team as a laughing stock...and real disappointment...they should look at this team as incredibly fortunate to have had the playoff success it has had the past 10 to 15 years...its amazing...despite its parts.

How can Bradway be placed over Tanny in the Jets GM talent totem pole? How many playoff wins did Bradway's teams produce? Did we get to any AFCCG under Bradway? I hate being placed in position where I have to appear as a Tanny apologist, but you forced my hand here.

reread the post...I even pointed out that Bradway was not good. My point was that Bradway was the last talent evaluator as GM and the fact that a cap guy might have done better then him isnt really compliment.

With that said...a huge * should be put next to Tanny because he basically used at least 2 picks every year to trade up...remember? Jet fans would bitch about Tanny because we had zero depth on the dline/oline because Tanny rarely made more then 5 picks every year.

My point is its been over a decade since the Jets had a true talent evaluator at GM and its time to get someone in that at least knows talent..and you can always bring in an accountant for 50 grand a year to do the stupid cap.

and while everyone loves to trash Bradway...incredibly..both Tanny and Idzik kept him on the payroll....now thats incredible as our number 1 talent stalker...now that tells you something.

To sign Wilkerson. wink wink. Only the Jets have soooo many superstars that they need to hold on to 20 million one year to set themselves up for the masses that will demand huge contracts...because we are so loaded with talent.

I think the title of the better talent evaluator should be based on the players they draft not their resume coming in. Idzik's background in being a cap guy did not preclude him from nailing the Richardson pick. Similarly, it did not stop Tanny from more or less hitting with the likes of Revis, Wilkerson, Harris, Allen, Kerley, Brick, Mangold, Davis, Coples, Powell, Leon Washington, B. Smith, Keller, Slauson…etc. Bradway hit and missed just as good and bad as the capologists.
