Because we paid CJ $4 million a year and the money will dictate who we use on the field, win or lose.
You can't be that predictable; you have to keep the defense guessing. No one was complaining when Ivory caught his prior 5 in the flat for nice gains or when CJ finally broke a long one on a dive play.
I was going to say the same thing, but then I figured I'd get the "Idzik's mantra means nothing or Vick would've won the QB job" That being said, the floodgates have been opened.
It's scary how we keep running CJ right up the middle and teams know exactly what to expect. There is no other explanation other than CJ complaining on the bench that he's not getting enough carries. Ivory and Powell are infinitely better at this point and CJ's TD run was simply luck.
Actually, TBH, if a guy like Ray Guy comes around, I say draft him in the first round. Quigley has mostly sucked. It's like adding defense by making the other team go an extra 20 yards.
I'm not a gloom and doom guy...not yet. We just lost 3 one score games against some pretty good NFC North teams. Our defense kept all 3 games close limiting the other team's go-to-guys. Our D is rated near the top in most categories, and will only get better...much better as our young guys progress (walls/AA/Pryor) and other guys come back (Milliner). No team has blown out our defense. Broken plays here and there for a TD sure, but the other 90% of the game our defense has been in control. Our d-line is for real, stuffing the run and stomping the QBs. As the secondary continue to learn and play better and with the return of Milliner our defense will be to much for any team we play in the second half of the season. I can see our defensive pts/game dropping from 25 to 15 after the bye. The problem with our offense is consistency. Geno and crew can go 80 yards and score on the back of the running game against anyone. And they can do the same thing with the passing game. But our offense breaks down too often killing drives or turning the ball over. When they're hot, they can be as good as anyone. I really don't see a 'quick fix' for our consistency issues. Yes, the Offense has gotten better, but they're still not good enough (yet) and the losses are piling up. It may be Vick time on the horizon. In summary the Jets will be ok. The defense will hold their own and get even better, while the offense has the talent but still needs to find their way. We can hope the Offense gets it together and starts having complete games. Or we can hope Rex goes to Vick before it's too late. Either way, I can see us winning 2 or 3 of our next batch of games.
Well this thread is proof its never to soon to think about next week... Really enjoying this board so far.
The Jets aren't covering Keenan Allen, Malcolm Floyd and Eddie Royal. I don't even think they can cover 2 of them. Forget covering Gates. The only way the Jets win is if the Chargers 3rd string Center has a botchfest and even then we got a gift in the Packers game and still lost so I am even stretching it here. The Chargers don't rely on the run, something we stop so Donald Brown should not matter too much in the equation besides as a guy to pick up the blitz.
Don't worry...next 3 weeks you'll get your wish. Another non-winning no playoff season under that genius Rex Ryan.
Lmao. Hey I did say 2 turnovers. Geno's had a rough day, he can't lose his number one fan today too. In all honesty I am expecting one interception and one turnover because our O-Line is trash. The interception in the Lions game was ALL on him, no doubt. The fumble. Meh. He got the snap and Ihedibo came through untouched like a lightning bolt. I would say Geno should get rid of it faster but that's BS. If he gets rid of it faster he is probebly throwing into coverage and it gets picked off. Either way bad things happen.
