Ruining him implies that he ever had any potential to be good

What has to happen with the Jets is a fundamental change in philosphy. We have to transition from defense centric to offense centric. We have to put higher value on offensive talent both in the drafting and in FA. Right now, Rex has this team so far out of balance that its almost impossible to return to center.
The only way this happens is for a change. A change in the CS has to happen.

Thats what i'm saying. If you bench a guy and that "ruins him" he's not the guy anyway.

We have to address the QB position first.

Kevin Sumlin is the guy Woody and Idzik should be all over if Rex is gone after this season. An offensive guru who has worked and excelled with Drew Bledsoe, Drew Brees, Jason White, Sam Bradford, Case Keenum, Manziel and now Kenny Hill. This guy's a big-time HC in the making.

You know this has come up a number of times and you just KNEW it would be a topic if/when we stunk up the joint.

There are so many glaring holes and lack of talent on this roster. This falls squarely on the shoulders of Idzik. Say what you want about Rex Ryan...Marty...the cupboard shelves are only half full. I'm fairly certain if we double checked the NY Football Jets have the MOST available cap space in the league...if not close to the top... We actually picked our full compliment of TWELVE draft picks... So I ask how in the HELL can this be? How can we have only half a cupboard full of "groceries" and still have $20+ million in the bank to spend...how how how.... I take back my earlier statement that Idzik should get the opportunity to pick his own coach. Fire the fuckin' lot of them and bring in a REAL football man to run the goddamn show.

Mezz, we all said that Idzik was the banker more or less in Seattle. Woody has yet to hire a true Football guy since Parcells said no. He's always trying to find that unknown talent that bursts on the scene. All of his hires have been guys w/o prior experience in the particular job Woody hired them to do. All of his hires have been OJT guys and we wonder why they haven't panned out here. Not to say you shouldn't hire people w/o experience but in the crucial positions (HC/GM), you absolutely have to have a successful resume and experience. You can let guys get OJT as a DC, OC, STC, AHC. You can't have a guy that was a money man run personnel cause if you do, you wind up with $20mil in cap space and gaping holes on your roster.

What makes anyone think any big name coach would want to come here?

Depends on how much of Woody's cash Idzik wants to dip into. Its not like the Jets are broke. For the right money and incentives, you could get almost any unemployed coach to work here. The real question is, do you want a retread or go in a new direction once again.

I Doubt a big name is coming here.

There would be a power stuggle between him and Idzik.

And I doubt Woody is ready to fire or demote the GM he just hired.

We're realistically looking at names such as Daryl Bevel and the Niners OC

I think we have to start Vick and I think we will if we lose again this Sunday. But with that said if Geno can play a turnover free game then we are likely to win.We are 4-0 when he doesn't throw a INT .I just hope Vick is in game shape

Its not so much a question of players talent and more an issue of being undisciplined and soft.
    • Defenders poorly positioned and taking bad angles, not knowing coverage responsibilities (Pryor on the Nelson 70 yarder and long TD today, that coverage breakdown last week with the CB off the street whose name I forget).
    • Poor route running for WR's, Geno and the WR's not on the same page.
    • All the penalties
    • Wilkerson getting thrown out of the GB game
    • Wasted timeouts due to poor clock management/that insane timeout in week 2.
    • Players dropping balls that are in their hands at key moments of the game (Salas and Pryor Week 1, D. Davis Week 2, C. Ivory today)

? San Diego is arguably the best team in the AFC right now, and Philip Rivers is playing better than Brady and Bress right now in my opinion. Geno could throw for 400 yards, and 3 touchdowns and we still may lose to San Diego. I think they're better than the last three teams we've faced, and their offensive line is nothing to sneeze at. And Antonio Gates, Kennan Allen, hell even Eddie Royal who is going to stop them? I expect two blown coverags at least and a double digit loss. We , truly, do suck right now.

We have said the same thing about the past 3 teams and the damage was minimal at best.Rex is 2-1 against Rivers since he has been coach here, hopefully Millner finally returns to help out the secondary and maybe he will look like the top 10 pick he's suppose to be

You deal with what you got and you clean house next season. Draft a new QB (I really don't think there is a great one coming out), you draft or get better WR's, and get or draft corners and safetys.

Vick has to start at this point but from the sound of it rex is accepting the fact that he's done here.
